As I'm sure you have noticed I have completely overhauled the forum theme and layout. But I also created mockups of alternate colour schemes. Which do you prefer?

Orange, or Blue?

I'm also willing to consider other colours.

Orange. Blue seems to be the default color for internet forums, and I don't mind something a little different.

Yeah, that was my thought too, but I must admit I kind of like the blue too (and there's a reason why it's the default... it is easy on the eyes). I'm finding it too hard to choose, hence the poll.

Yup, we've had too many hoax believers say "why do you call it 'ApolloHoax' if you don't believe the moon landings were faked?" so I decided to make it absolutely clear which side we're on.

Darn it, I just voted for "Orange" when the color Purple struck me. Maybe purple would look like magic.

Orange looks great, especially combined with the gray tones and black. However, the smaller orange text becomes harder to read now with the light gray backgrounds in some parts. Most noticably are the small parts of text on the top of the forum subject box that tell you what section you are in.

I've always preferred darker websites because it's easier on the eyes. I mean, we are essentially staring at a light for long periods of time. I would suggest maybe a shift to a darker gray or back to black.

It's looking good but can I make one suggestion? Can you increase the font size for the text showing the path to the active forum. It's bigger and looks fine on the blue version, but I think it's way too tiny on the orange version.

I've been struggling to get that right. The problem is that the Proboards crapware won't let me control certain aspects of the text. For example, for this thread the links above the forum table say:

ApolloHoax.net :: Announcements :: Announcements :: New look

The first link is for the forum index, the second is for the category, the third is for the sub-forum, and the fourth is the topic title. I can change the link for the forum index and the sub-forum, but the category link and topic title font size is hard coded into the software and I can't seem to change it.

So I figured it was better to have one uniform font size (even though it is too small) than to have the fonts vary in size.

I've set up a blue theme that you can select in your profile. It isn't perfect (it still uses the orange banner) but if you find the orange links hard on the eyes it's the best I can do with the limitations of this forum software.

To change your theme:

1) click on the Profile link at the top of the forum
2) click "Modify Profile"
3) select "ApolloHoax - Blue" from the "Select Skins" drop-down box
4) click the "Modify Profile" button
