Will you please remove your piss taking signature. I forgot to mention besides Van Allen, big deal. I'm not a HB and i wasn't moving the goal posts when i posted besides him it was a simple mistake on my part. Have you never made a mistake, do you still get the piss taken out of you for it?
I was asked to provide the name of an astrophysicist besides Van Allen by a HB so asked on here for help. I asked the question "Required: One credible and reputable astrophysicist who will prove, in a peer-reviewed document, that a man can go through the Van Allen Radiation Belt unscathed. Anyone know of one" someone posted Van Allen i said i should have been more clear i meant besides him and all hell broke out people straight away assumed i was a HB no matter what i said and accused me of moving the goal posts. A simple mistake which i corrected then got shouted down for.
I know my boyfriend has asked you to remove it to no avail so now I'm asking you as you told him i should.
Its not cricket to gloat over a simple mistake old bean.

I wrote this in response to his first PM (dated 21 July):
Quote: About the signature, since who has not been banned from the board, it would be polite for her - not somebody else - to PM me and ask to change it.
About the apology, JayUtah already said it best:
Quote: The sin was committed by those who posted the question without its context, then tried to restore the context after the responses were already committed and hold the responders accountable for what had been withheld from them.
|
|
If who decides to post in a public forum, she should accept responsibility for the consequences.
|
|
If my signature bothers you so much, why didn't you send me a PM, instead of letting rumormill spam my PM inbox with complaints and insults?

Letting lol you make it sound like he is under my control. You said to him that i should ask for you to remove it and i am now asking just that. So are you going to remove it or not?
I made a simple mistake what pleasure to you derive from rubbing it in every post you make?

...it was a simple mistake on my part.
The thread in question. http://apollohoax.proboards21.com/index.....75726672&page=1
You went to great lengths then to blame everyone else for your mistake. Do you agree that your approach in that thread was misleading and that the responses you got were appropriate and expected in context?

Yes i agree. I was angry that people jumped on me for omitting something.
My third post explained that i had made a mistake but still the accusations kept on coming.
Why after i had explained my error couldn't people just leave it at that? Didn't they read my third post?
People just seemed to gang up and jump in for the kill.

I was angry that people jumped on me for omitting something.
What you omitted was of the utmost importance. Don't blame the airplane pilot because you forgot to put on the parachute before jumping out.
My second post explained that i had made a mistake but still the accusations kept on coming.
Here is your second post.
Quote:| Maybe i should have been more clear. Apart from Allen, and no Jay i cant but that wasnt the question. |
|
Perhaps you mean your third post, number 13 in the overall sequence:
Quote:For Gods sake men all i wanted was a name. A guy at work said its impossible to go through the belts and asked for the name of an astrophysicist who said it wasn't. I told him van Allen and about the ISS and STS traveling through them. I even mailed him links to publications. None of this he will except all he says will do is a name he can check.
Sorry i bloody asked.
If you cannot give me any good reason why such an authority should not be considered, then you deserve no further attention on this point.
God your so up yourself it a wonder you can be heard. You though i didnt think you could travel through them lol. |
|
Why after i had explained my error couldn't people just leave it at that? Didn't they read my second post?
You mean the one where you finally told the story you should have told in the very first post and then blamed everyone else for not having read your mind from the beginning?
"Explaining" an error is not the same as taking responsibility for it. Until today there has never been any sign that you felt your predicament might be at least somewhat your own fault. You can't expect favor from people whom you continue to blame for your own error.
People just seemed to gang up and jump in for the kill.
Is it at all possible that your confrontational attitude and utter lack of contrition had something to do with that?

Not to worry anyway Ive asked the gentleman to remove the piss taking signature now its up to him.
Please find a different metaphor.
And since you've made the request in public, you've made it everyone's business. If you didn't want the attention you shouldn't have sought it. I had largely forgotten about the whole affair, but you seem not to have. Talk about not letting go.

Its hard to let go when papageno has it emblazened on every post he makes. Yes i asked him to remove it now im saying its up to him if he does. I hope someone spots a mistake he makes and does the same see how he feels.
So not to worry anyway Ive asked the "gentleman" to remove the piss taking signature now its up to him.

I think that in case you don't want other people to meddle in this, you should have done it in a more personal way. This is a public board, with public forums and public threads. You made one and everyone is allowed to post in it.
If you want something done between you and papageno without anyone else interfering, send him a PM.

No, it's your public diatribe against him and, by extension, the rest of the board. So deal with it.
If you want to conduct private business with Papageno, then do it in private. Anything you post on the public forum is fair game for public comment whether you wish it or not.

I agree with Bert. Posting public messages vulgarly attacking someone for a mistake you made doesn't seem like the best method for getting someone to do what you want. And then arguing with other forum regulars when they point this out to you can't help much either.
I think it's a great quote myself. Maybe I should use it as my signature too. "Other than Van Allen" - classic.

'How shall a man judge what to do in such times?' 'As he ever has judged,' said Aragorn. 'Good and ill have not changed since yesteryear; nor are they one thing among Elves and Dwarves, and another among Men. It is a man's part to discern them, as much in the Golden Wood as in his own house.' |
