This is something everyone who reads discussions forums should take a look at. www.opposingdigits.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1222(excerpt) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) They tend to operate in self-congratulatory and complementary packs or teams. Of course, this can happen naturally in any public forum, but there will likely be an ongoing pattern of frequent exchanges of this sort where professionals are involved. Sometimes one of the players will infiltrate the opponent camp to become a source for straw man or other tactics designed to dilute opponent presentation strength. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The government is trying to sway public opinion by hiring lots of people to pose as objective contributors to discussion forums. They don't even believe the points they are arguing. They are pretty easy to spot. They use a lot of the tactics outlined in that link.

Your disinfo site is just a list of stuff some guy made up...and it makes a lot of assumptions. Am I a paid, or somehow compensated, government disinfo agent? (and what is this "agent" stuff?...TV and movies are for entertainment...there's mostly "pretend" stuff there). It's a silly argument, Rocky. If you believe what you write...well, you need to chill and enjoy life...without agents around every corner...it's like Matrix here!!!

Do you have any evidence at all that the government is hiring disinformation experts, other than that they don't agree with you?

Rocky, I don't care what you or anyone else supposes the characteristics of "disinformation" statements to be. Whether I am lying or not, or whether I believe what I say or not, are matters of fact, not your convoluted speculation. Having accused me directly of lying, you will either retract that accusation immediately, or you will provide factual evidence that I have lied. Do one or the other immediately.

Funny how that list also describes the conspiracy theorists and pretty much any other person that posts on the internet! Got any more crap you want to throw at the wall Rocky?

The source admits that the self-congratulatory pattern is not particular to "disinformation agents," but then goes on to explain that it should be used anyway as a discriminator. Admitted allusions to general human nature used this way serve only to spread a layer of pseudo-intellectualism on top of a begged question. It's like saying, "Burglars tend to have noses. Of course noses happen naturally in the general human population, but there will likely be a pattern of recurring noses among burglars." Therefore anyone with a nose is defined as a burglar-candidate. If the goal is to distinguish burglars from ordinary folk, there must be criteria that don't "happen naturally in any public forum."
All that effort sidesteps the notion that we are not a "self-congratulatory pack." While Jason and I respect each other, we disagree for example on the effects of living in Utah. Other members have different opinions of Bill O'Reilly. And my "followers" have a contest going to see who can prove me factually wrong.

We don't need disinfo agents like Rocky around here. Rocky is more like COINTELPRO, sent here to make the REAL truth seekers look like idiots.

I still want to know how much being a disinfo agent pays. I mean, I can't afford to take my cat to the vet for an antihistamine shot (he's severely allergic to fleas); the government can't be paying much for going against my principles, if they're the ones paying me.

If I'm a paid disinfo agent, then I shouldn't have to worry about paying rent ontime at the place I'm staying at for my technical school.
