You know, I've been scratching my head wondering what you could possibly mean by that. And we're scratching our heads. Your link is to a photo of a woman in a black dress holding hands with a bloke in a red shirt, with people in the background. The lighting is so soft that if there are any shadows there, they are hard to see.

Kiwi, I agree. I thought you guys were getting too subtle with the shadow analysis!

That's not what I see. Note to self: never use imagevenue again. [EDIT: Ok, does that work?]

Hmm...
then why don't the rocks at the top right corner line up at all? (Sorry Jarrah, already stole that question. You must like me for bringing that up.)

It seems I can't host a hires pictures anywhere, so go look at David's analysis at Education Forum. See his explanation and Graig Lamson's post below for description of VPA and what all this means for the number of light sources.

You could always switch to maj.com for hosting your images. No restrictions over there.

Because I can't be fragged reading the junk that DD spouts, did anyone bother to pin him on the Nixon faked the moonlandings? I spotted that someone pointed out that Apollo started well before Nixon, but I was thinking that you needed to get him to say that Nixon faked the programme so that you can get to a position of the programme being genuine up til Nixon's ordering it to be faked, then point out that Apollo 8 reached the moon under Johnson.

Yes, and I still see an Apollo picture with red lines drawn on it. Look at the screencapture I posted above. The address bar in it has the exact same address as in your post, but there is no woman in a black dress. There has to be something wrong with the file hosting service. Hey, when you right-click the whatever image it is you're seeing and click Properties, what's the URL in the dialog box? I have this: img183.imagevenue.com/aAfkjfp01fo1i-19045/loc426/10471_shadown_analysis_122_426lo.JPG

Count Zero's link links me to a man and a woman walking down the street (Pretty woman). JMV's link gives me a 404, and so does Tanalia's. I'm talking about the links given in the last three posts. Weird stuff. I never liked photobucket that much anyways.

I've been having an interesting series of discussions on the comments page of my Youtube video which attempts to show that shadow directions can't be relied on to pinpoint the lightsource (this may sound counter-intuitive). The video can be found here:- www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATrFuCnW6T8I've taken a couple of stills from the video, and highlighted the shadow direction in red with the "vanishing point analysis" lines in yellow. I think it shows quite clearly that if you rely on the apparent direction of a shadow cast on a surface, you will get anomalous results. tinyurl.com/2nfxumtinyurl.com/2txwja

Heh, he called the video "Pathetic".
EDIT: I think he won't respond to my response to his response to my response to his response as I told him exactly what the video shows. "the argument 'These shadows converge so much, it can only be done with studio lighting' is proven wrong [by this video]." I guess he needs to think what to say to that.

Considering that both Jarrah W and myself are in Australia (and I think he is the same state), we should set up a challenge with him. Determine what types of cameras, conditions, etc. Each person record their own images, with the whole thing being filmed.
He won't agree, of course - it would demolish his premises (as if that hadn't been done already).
