I don't know - he seemed to me to be showing signs of frustration with the forum. He wanted me to go join another forum that he moderated a couple months ago (after having been warned by LunarOrbit that he was getting too personal) and he was obviously out of step with the rest of the forum on the "Fermi's Paradox" thread. Jason, something happened. And this forum was most likely only on the peripheral of it. I would share a PM that I had with Bill, but out of respect for his privacy I won't. There was nothing earth shattering in it, but it indicated a lot of frustration.

Ah well. He did make the forum livelier, but I won't miss his anti-Mormon pogroms.

Wow, I can't believe he finally got banned. I mean, he usually kind of rode the line and got banned temporarily a few times (or at least warned a whole bunch), but his last post was just... completely out of nowhere.
We butted heads quite a bit in the political threads, and we carried it out into a lengthy bout in PMs (including one where he harassed me with an insulting and offensive image), but after that he got pretty friendly about things.

I blocked his PMs after I noticed he had stopped reading my responses. Out of the last ten responses I wrote him he never opened six of them. And some of his PMs were quite a bit more abusive than his public postings.

I won't miss him. He may or may not have had things going on in his personal life, but that's no excuse for changing past posts. If you're frustrated with a forum, don't post on it.

If he had posted his little rant as a single new post I would have just ignored it, or at least not banned him over it. Instead he decided to alter nearly 50 past posts, some of which were the first post in a thread, and that is totally uncalled for. If he was tired of this forum he was free to leave at any time, and would have been free to return if he had just left politely.

Altair4 has been banned for 30 days for repeatedly posting off topic threads in the "The Reality of Apollo" section and for ignoring warnings not to do so. If he continues to violate rules upon his return he will be permanently banned.

Altair4 has been banned permanently for rude behaviour, insulting other members, provoking the admin, repeatedly violating rules, and ignoring multiple warnings.

Actually, I just get dissapointed when this happens. We need people with different opinions here - it's just too bad we have such difficulty communicating.
Oh, altair4, just so you know. I've deleted the Personal Message you sent me with your phone number. I wish you could have been less rude in your departure post - don't you think it could have been handled differently?

Actually, I just get disappointed when this happens. We need people with different opinions here - it's just too bad we have such difficulty communicating. All the difficulty was on his end. This forum does tend to doggy pile a bit on hoax believers or those who hold unpopular opinions. Your standard issue hoax believer will quickly discover that they don't have a friendly audience and depart. Apparently the "in" style is to let loose a verbal barrage and then be banned. It's probably the same thing that motivates a pathetic individual to shoot up a school seeking national media attention before killing themselves.

I didn't have much use for him, as his style was just to wander in, fire a shotgun blast of claims and then run off. If he'd just picked one topic, perhaps we could have had a discussion. As it was, I didn't really ever feel like conversing with him and so didn't. Jay deserves kudos for his patience, as always.
