I think you're probably right, Carpedeim. Although his IP address is similar to one that Fattydash used, it's not an exact match. But combined with the way he didn't properly quote Fattydash it was enough to cause me to mistake him for a sock puppet. It's my mistake, but since FD was known to repeatedly post the same wall of text it was an easy mistake to make.
I have removed the ban, longfuzzy is welcome to return if he would like to.

Bottom line is the Mod's decision is the Mod's decision. Bear in mind that the Mod sees a lot more data than you or I. Been there and done that. You have no idea how far people will go until you actually see it. I understand that, and I'm not arguing his decision as I am not privy to his data. I'm just passing on what I heard, as his PMs and posts on JREF sounded - non-fattydash. --> OK, and now LO has updated his decision.

Damnsod (aka. Cheeb) has been permanently banned for making offensive comments and ignoring warnings from me. He is clearly not interested in having a civil discussion like a grown up so I really don't think anyone is going to miss him.

Someone who writes in cyan on grey is clearly not interested in discussion.

It was pretty obvious he'd be banned quickly. Which is probably what he wanted anyway. Any bets on how long until the first sock puppet?

Playdor has been suspended for 7 days for being rude and argumentative, and for not defending his claims with anything other than his own speculation. If this behaviour continues upon his return the ban will be made permanent.

For the record, I disagree with 1. banning playdor - who was at least a serviceable chew toy 2. changing the name of the thread
I'm not really worked up about either one, mind you. I just don't agree.

Personally, I think banning Playdor was absolutely the right thing to do. He was rude and unresponsive. I'd stopped reading his posts some time ago, because there was no point. If we keep people around as "chew toys," do the rules mean anything?

For the record, I disagree with 1. banning playdor - who was at least a serviceable chew toy 2. changing the name of the thread I'm not really worked up about either one, mind you. I just don't agree. If Playdor showed any sign that he was capable of changing his mind then I wouldn't have banned him. Instead he was so arrogantly sure that he was right and the rest of the world was wrong that I just didn't see the point in arguing with him any more. I believe it would be a waste of our time. As for changing the name of the thread, I had to give it a new name when I split it from the "Waving Flag Theory Debunked" thread (which I should have done a long time ago) and I couldn't think of another title that accurately covered the variety of claims that Playdor made. Yes, the title I chose is a jab at Playdor, but it does basically describe how I see that thread. 117 pages of Playdor showing us how little he understands Apollo and physics in general.

I'll go on record as agreeing with the ban. Playdor maintained his character as a dedicated but polite hoax believer for quite a while, and if he had stayed polite a ban would not have been deserved. But it seemed to me that the frustration at his inability to get even a nudge us even a little, turned him into an abrasive and even rude poster. At that point he was no longer contributing to the forum.
I disagree with the new title of the thread. While it is certainly accurate, we should work to maintain as welcoming of an environment for hoax believers as possible. The of altering a thread title to ridicule a banned member is not welcoming.

The people have spoken. I've changed the name of the thread to "Playdor's thread". Not very descriptive, but in no way insulting.
