It's certainly possible but it's difficult to prove. They behave similarly and have both been linked to the same IP adress, but I can't be 100% sure it's just one person.
The sock puppetry isn't even the primary reason they were banned... it was their attitude. I didn't believe for one second that who was offended by Papageno's signature, she just wanted to start a fight. It is the same troll-like behaviour that "she" exhibited as Cameron.

I guess we will never see that web site they worked on together. Though its likely it doesn't exist. They make quite a pair, either as separate people or within one head, whichever way it works.

Re: IP address, if Graham started an account, we'd have the same IP address, too. However, given that he's pretty severely dyslexic, the posting styles would be very different!

If Graham is considering joining the forum he's more than welcome to. Identical IP addresses aren't proof that two users are actually the same person. They can be family, roommates, someone using their friends computer, or even total strangers who just happen to be using the same public library computer. That is why I'm usually pretty lenient about the "no multiple user accounts" rule until I have other reasons to ban someone... then I'll maybe use it against them. It's always something else that leads me to suspect someone is a sock puppet. For example, when a new member jumps to the defense of someone who has just been banned it's pretty suspicious. They must think I'm stupid or something, I'm aware of proxy servers and cyber cafes so I know it's possible to rejoin with a different IP address. It's their behaviour that usually betrays them because no matter how hard they try to disguise themselves they aren't that good.

I have to say, LunarOrbit, you are one of the most sensible and logical administrators I have ever seen. Even if I was a rabid HB I don't think I could argue with any of your actions. You have just the right amount of patience while also knowing when to put your foot down.

Thanks, Reynoldbot, I do try to be fair and patient. It isn't always easy.

It's their behaviour that usually betrays them because no matter how hard they try to disguise themselves they aren't that good. I am pleased to see you are careful about these things. Less than 24 hours ago, I made the mistake of joining a dishonest hypocritical board where I had been lurking for more than a year. Within a few hours, I had been banned for being a sock puppet. The liar who publicly branded me in this way has declined to say who he thinks I am, although some of the mindless ditto heads there have been hinting at who I'm supposed to be. Evidence? Of course not. What evidence could there be of something that's not true? If I disagree with a moderator action, I can PM one of them, according to the rules. How? I am banned. I can't PM them, I can't find their email addresses. I could register another ID, which in the sick, twisted circular logic that is common there, would give retroactive justification for my original ban. My emails to the reply address on the welcome message have gone unanswered. So I know how it feels to be falsely accused, even under a pseudonym. It doesn't feel good. So you are right to be careful about it. Thanks for that. I have been lurking here a couple of months. I probably won't post much, it's not what I do, but I had to vent. But hello everyone, I have gotten to know some of you well even if I have been silent

Welcome toe the board levon. While many members of this board are also members of BAUT, none are moderators there. Since there is nothing we can do about problems at BAUT, its generally better to keep gripes with their moderators off from this forum.

OK, I am sorry, but it is a difficult thing, when you are accused of something you did not do, and all avenues of complaint are completely seald off. But I will not say any more here. Thanks for your welcome.

Levon at the bottom of each page on the BAUT Forums there is a "Contact Us" link that leads to this page which allows you to send a message to the board admins even without being logged in. BAUT has a problem with several people persistently trying to create sockpuppets, you most likely just got unlucky and shared some feature with one of them and the moderator simply made a mistake, remember that they are just human and will occasionally screw up so you shouldn't assume that it was done maliciously, being rude and insulting (eg like your first post here) will not help your case in the slightest.

It's also possible to contact Phil or Fraser personally, which I have done after one of the IP's owned by my ISP provider was banned, locking me out.

I am pleased to see you are careful about these things. Quite funny, as you exhibited exactly the behavior LunarOrbit just explained. If anyone is interested, here is the thread: www.bautforum.com/about-baut/65497-yuck.html

conspiromaniac has been banned for 30 days due to rude behaviour, unfounded accusations against other members of the forum, and for not defending his claims against Apollo (trolling). If this behaviour continues when he returns the ban will be made permanent.
