Oh hell,
I can hardly see thru the tears, I'm laughing so hard. This thread really needs to be in a "the best of AH" collection. I think Jays latter post that ended with "...and you're an idiot" had me on the floor screaming...
...thanks, I needed that!
Dave Edit...was looking at BigBrain's logic run over at the other site...could you imagine trying to explain the trajectory of the Messanger mission to him???

I'm new here and reading back-posts to catch up.
I'm not an engineer. I'm dad, and a carpenter, with a hobbyist fascination for science and information. If I can understand what's wrong with some of these silly ideas by speed-reading while waiting for the baby to wake up and need a fresh diaper (like working with the Sword of Damocles always overhead) how is it that other people just don't get it? I think they want to NOTget it more than they want to understand the real world. Or maybe they need to ask mommy to use the computer. Or maybe they spend too much time surfing one-handed ...
By the way, I named my kids Kepler and Mendel: I love knowledge

rocketdad,
Welcome, and good luck with the Sword.
I return here for entertainment purposes mostly. And to enjoy the wit in some of the rebuttals but basically I think the vast majority of HB's are young people who weren't around when the missions actually happened. Perhaps they had not reached the age of reason yet( I am sceptical if some of them have yet reached it).
The common trait I have seen amongst HB's is stubborn obstinacy. Not a very open approach to learning.
