Last time I checked, Bill, rainwater was fresh, not salty. The problem is exactly the opposite of the one you described. But even if it rained enough to flood the whole world, there would me more saltwater to dilute the rainwater. There would still be a lot more saltwater than fresh water. The oceans are big and deep.
If the whole Earth was flooded, all the fresh water fish would be killed off and there would not have been enough time respeciate. Freshwater fish would have become extinct and there would not have been enough time to have them re-evolve.
If the whole Earth was flooded, the salt deposits on the land would have killed all the plant life on Earth and they would not have come back. They would not have come back ever because the salt would have poisoned the land long after the water had receded.
I had a water softener once and I cleaned it by dumping the salt water inside out in my lawn. The grass never came back. Never ever.
If you can imagine the kind of magic to cause the biblical flood to have occurred, than you can imagine that the story simply is not true as well. And that is easier to imagine.

Of course there is the problem of where did all the water come from and where did it go. The American Standard Bible had diagrams and photos (of the holy hand) and illustrations. According to this bible, the ancient Hebrews believed the earth was flat and the sky was a dome and there were chambers divided by pillars in the underworld to allow the moon and the sun passage to the other side of the earth. And there was a system where water was cycled back above the dome of the sky. Believe in the biblical flood story is easier if you accept this design of the world.
