1. STEINLAGER New Zealand | LION NATHAN INTERNATIONAL LTD. LCBO 112375 | 1980 mL | $ 11.95
(from the Liqour Control Board of Ontario site). I guess it is available, though I've never seen it. I generally drink British, Irish, Scottish and Belgium ales. If I remember correctly, furi is the beer expert around here. He wouldn't touch anything I drink. My favourites: Guiness, Cafereys, Kilkenny, Boddingtons, St. Andrew's, and anything Belgium that isn't fruity. \ But on the whole, the Brits don't seem capable of producing a bad dark ale, though I haven't tasted them all.

I would take off into the mountains if things got really bad,New Zealand is like Canada you would like it....come to New ZealandBut how would you feed yourself, keep warm, etc. Are you a hunter? BTW: Judging from the scenery in LOTR, New Zealand seems like a fantastic place to live. Canada has mountains, big ones too, but they are two thousand kms away from here. I am originally from Newfoundland ( a Canadian province for the last fifty years.) We were once an island nation too. A spectacular place also. This is the view from the back deck of the house I grew up in:

My grandfather half-jokingly said he would move the whole family to Australia if John Kerry was elected President in 2004.

Why? Australia is so far up the US's behind it might as well be the 51st State or 52nd if you count Columbia.

I'm detecting a certain anti-american odor form your direction, Trevor. Sounded anti-Aussie to me! ;D Canada didn't go along with what GW wanted so he basically blacklisted us, despite the fact that we've been in Afghanistan for six years.

Not really, more anti - American foreign policy. You can never and should never judge an entire country by it's government, but I don't like the one in power at the moment. I think Clinton (Bill) was good, I think Hillary will be better than Obama. I never liked John Howard, Australia's last PM.

I think Clinton (Bill) was good, I think Hillary will be better than Obama. I never liked John Howard, Australia's last PM. Well we voted President Bush into office. Twice. Criticising him is at least an indirect criticism of the people who elected him. And you're being quite gullible with regards to the President's critics. He's no moron. They guy flew supersonic flighter jets. He went to Yale and Harvard. Morons don't do those things, no matter how well they're connected politically. And he's married to a school teacher and librarian. Lack of elloquence is not a sign of lack of intelligence. Why do so many people who disagree with President Bush's policy also feel the need to denegrate him personally? Can't you just say "I disagree"? I for one never thought Clinton was stupid. I didn't like him at all and thought he was a mediocre president at best, but he wasn't stupid or "evil".

I think Jason, that Bush is an easy target. So most people take advantage of that, even the American press and media (actually maybe mostly from those sources). I know I don't like him, but that doesn't mean I don't like the States or Americans. It really doesn't.

You're right that the most powerful man in the world is a big target. But criticizing your own elected leader is different from criticizing someone else's. There's a certain amount of self-depreciation and humility involved in criticizing one of your own that isn't present when you're talking about someone else's choice.
For instance, I don't know enough about former Prime Minister John Howard and what kind of job he did in Australia to know if I like him or not. I'm not Australian and didn't live in Australia while he was PM. Therefore I have no opinion on whether he was a good Prime Minister, and I'm not about to insult Australians by implying that they were morons for electing him.

Hey don't push the 'he was a fighter pilot' bit on me. I'm an aircraft maintenance engineer and I've known too many pilots to be impressed with that one.
Sorry but Bushes foreign policy and disregard for international protocol doesn't give me much faith in him. And if you elected him that's not just your problem but the rest of the worlds too. He is too dangerous for my liking.

Do you also know a lot of Yale and Harvard graduates? And are they fighter pilots you know, or (pardon the pun) bush pilots?
