I know it's early, but I wanted to start the thread before anyone else beat me to it. ;D
This July 20th is the 39th anniversary of the landing of Apollo 11.
What are your ways of commemorating it?
Me, I'm re watching "In the Shadow of the Moon".
And getting new glasses.

Have you done that before? Does the Saturn V scare them? I think I'll watch In The Shadow Of The Moon too, I don't have any pets to chase with a model rocket.

In the Shadow of the Moon isn't available here in Canada. Says who? I bought my copy of it at Future Shop in Vancouver the day it was released back in February-ish... Also, its available and in stock at Amazon.ca for like $16: www.amazon.ca/Shadow-Moon/dp/B000XCK0NM/Cz

Woo hoo! I hope Neil, Buzz, and Mike have a very very good 39th anniversary...and also all of the tens of thousands involved in making it happen. Bust out your favorite beverages, fire up the grill (or however you want to cook your anniversary feast) and have an unofficial holiday, you amazing folks! ;D

It's the rumble I'd have to think...as either one will sit on top of my guitar amp at a (not so) healthy (for the ear) volume and seem to enjoy that. *shrug*

What is really sad is that in 11 years time it will be the 50th annoversary and we still won't be back.

Will they be doing anything for the 40th next year? I expect that the HB's will be out in force today If I had time, (unfortunately I have other commitments), the film I would be playing would be The Dish, to highlight that other countries were tracking Apollo 11

The History Channel here has played "To the Moon" , which I've enjoyed watching, even though that program seems to be nearly 10 years old.

As a nice addition to the celebrations, Flight International magazine has been conducting a "100 Greatest" poll of its readers to mark the mag's own 100th anniversary. Apollo 11 won both the "Greatest Moment" category and also scored the most votes of any category winner.

Badchap,
Yeah, I've got it from when they showed it about 1999! Overall a pretty disappointing result from THC, although they may be saving the new stuff until the 40th anniversary.
Also that "Apollo 11 - The Untold Story" was very sensationalist. Some good pieces, accurate at times, but again disappointing.

Welcome to the board, badchap. Be a good chap and hang around some. Thanks I will, although I don't usually have a lot to say for myself, I will likely pop in to have a read a few times a week.
