Not all countries have access to radiation data; they only get it from NASA. NASA controls ALL space data. (a variation of the above) To which my response is "So then NASA could have just lied about the existence of deadly space radiation. Since there is no deadly space radiation [note the sudden mutation of the mere possibility into an accepted fact, which HB's are so fond of], there is nothing to prevent the Apollo missions from happening as described."

It doesn't matter if the radiation is discovered by others 5 years, 50 years, or 100 years later, the result is the same: the hoax is exposed and the reputation of the United States goes down the toilet. It doesn't make sense to lie if you know you will get caught.

And you must also take into account the Gauss' Law. The CM can easily be modeled like a closed metal surface, that's it! The mere fact that it was made of metal kept them safe (at least within the VAB).

Well safe to a degree. A couple of hours was fine, but I doubt they could have managed to orbit in them for 10 days even with the shielding of the capsule walls.

The usual counter from conspiracy theorists to NASA being unable to hide a lie about radiation is one of the following; Not all countries have access to radiation data; they only get it from NASA. NASA controls ALL space data. (a variation of the above) NASA has Death Squads TM to kill those that reveal their lies. NASA is in partnership with all space faring nations to hide the Truth TM. No scientist wants to risk his/her life or funding to reveal the Truth TM. ...to add one, that the USA runs the world through terror and intimidation. We have the power to determine what they say. WE have the power to determine the lies in the world's textbooks. We determine the reality, the science. There is no reality outside that of the evil NASA/US gubmint version. All others shall be silenced. Uh,oh...another storm heading towards New Orleans...time to spin up the perfect, unsurmountable gubmint reality machine...again...this is just so silly!!! Turn off the damn TV folks...it's ENTERTAINMENT!!!

I have a dude on youtube who is willing to ackknowledge that alpha, beta, and heavy particles can forseibly be stopped by sheilding. however he is claiming that sheer amount in the van allen belts would require the heavy iron/steel/lead uber sheilding so loved to be claimed by AHCT. Now this doesn't ring true to me, if a .22 bullet isn't going to pentrate an inch of steel plate, fireing again won't help, but I would like some of that mystical magic science you guys know so well. I am also interested in learning something as well.

A ton of feathers, a ton of aluminum, a ton of lead, or a ton of gold spread over a one square meter area will all provide the same protection. In fact using lighter elements for shielding is usually the best choice because they produce less secondary radiation which can be more dangerous than the initial radiation.

Indeed, there are some other kind of electromagnetic phenomena that does not necessarily fits the Gauss' Law. It's not that, it's that while the hull was enough to stop most of the particles, it wasn't enough to stop all of the particles. As such while a few hours of exposure wasn't an issue as only a relative few of these sort of particles got through, if they were in their for ten days they'd have received far greater dosages.

One thing some conspiracy theorists like to claim is, that the gamma ray image of the moon proves it would too dangerous to land there. I found this picture of a rather near and dear celestial body, that proves with the same effectiveness that this planet is far too deadly for any to survive. www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2005/04/050411140248.htmWhy, multiple magnitudes more humans have died here then anywhere else in the universe!

Can we just clarify one thing? It's "no bucks, no Buck Rogers." No "d."

The radiation argument doesn't make sense because why would NASA try to lie about something that is out of their control? They can't deny that the radiation exists and they can't stop other countries from studying it and discovering the lie. If NASA lied about the radiation then it would only be a matter or time before someone realized it... so why would NASA fake the moon landings if there was something that could so easily give it away? And then of course there are later lunar flybys such as AsiaSat 3. This was communications satellite placed into the wrong orbit by a malfunctioning launch vehicle. ( AsiaSat3 at NASA) To salvage the satellite the manufacturers used an Apollo derived trajectory to loop the spacecraft around the moon twice so that it could be inserted into the correct geostationary orbit. If NASA had been lying about the radiation levels or for that matter the Apollo flights then the technique would not have worked.

Yes, but most Conspiracy Theorists seem to have no concept of the fact that radiation ALSO affects electronics.
