It wasn't Congress threatening to enact martial law, it was a Congressman saying that some Representatives were threatened by fear-mongering people who said that martial law would be enacted if the bill failed. That's very different. And it's vague too. Who made the threats? Lobbyists? Other Congresspeople? Were they serious about martial law or could it have been hyperbole? Which Representatives were threatened? Brad Sherman doesn't say.

There were enough threats for some of them to change their mind and vote for the bill - a bill which will not solve the problem.

Congress did not change their votes because they were threatened with martial law. They changed their votes because it was a massively unpopular bill, and no one wanted to take the blame if it didn't work.

They only passed it after failing it and requesting a number of changes to it. I didn't notice Martial Law starting between the period of them not passing it and the time it was amended and resubmitted.

Actually they were threatened with a public just as angry that they weren't doing anything (which has been the credo of the current Congress). |

Congressmen recieved thousands of complaints AGAINST the bill from citizens which is why it wasn't passed the first time.

Go read up on the news reports again Rusty. I already mentioned thousands of complaints against the bill. When they didn't pass the bill the first time in large part because of those complaints, they were equally excoriated for having done nothing.
