I said: Gillianren replied: I'm pretty sure he said he lived in Seattle. Better watch out!

"The sum of the square roots of any two sides of an isosceles triangle is equal to the square root of the remaining side." "That's a right triangle, y'idiot!" "D'Oh!"

I'm pretty sure he said he lived in Seattle. Better watch out! With luck, he'll head downtown and into the Sound, being unable to turn south toward Olympia.

Great song! I wonder how JW got the funds to license this? I know exactly how much this costs to license and I'm pretty sure he did not pay it. Gotta' love those film makers that rip off artists. Shame, shame, shame, shame.

Shame, shame, shame, shame. Well then someone could report him to the one group more stubborn, belligerent, and relentlessly stupid than the HB's; I refer of course to the RIAA...

Yet another run away from Jarrah. Read the info, and it says how some people have been asking him about the strange value of pi on Rene's website. The truth: friends and I have been pointing out to JW that Rene was wrong in many areas of mathematics and science, so how could anyone trust his Apollo analysis? It's a bit like putting your life savings on a horse that has lost its last 100 races. When pi was brought up, Jarrah claimed he was going to conduct his own experiments to determine the value as he would accept both values until one was proven to be the value. He's just shown Gaddy's construction for squaring the circle in this video, and made some lame excuse that people have been 'slightly curious' about Rene's work. What a back pedal. I want my money back!!! TK

try this at home: take a circle, poke a hole in the center. take a piece of string and arc it around, then back, up underneath through the circle, then back around again, stretching the string now tightly. I don't what you'll get, but I got a brand new car!!

I thought this would be the old, Bible claims Pi=3 urban ledgend yet again. Apologies if I have broken any no religion rules I once saw one of those creationist sites also debunking the "Bible says pi=3" myth, I could try and locate it if required. The point was that not all in the religious world buy into that junk either.

Haha. I know a christian mathematician who certainly wouldn't. I must tell him about Pi being redefined with a ruler and a piece of string, I'm sure he'll be impressed.

The point was that not all in the religious world buy into that junk either. I think you would probably find that only a small minority of the most "extreme" Christians would buy into it ... like "creationism" itself.

Well, I can get the whole 30 cubits around and 10 cubits across thing to work, by measuring the diameter along the surface of the earth, rather than in the plane containing the circle. Then the diameter is longer, due to the curvature of the earth.
The problem is that I need a cubit to be over 600 km to get it to work, and they're supposed to be a lot smaller, aren't they?
