They present snippets of both sides in the trailer, we'll see.

I set my computer to record the show. I always have high hopes for National Geo, but those are not always met.
Not that a pro science show could keep the HBs quite, but at least it would give them one less canard to bring out

Other than the raving loonies and those desparately seeking dollars, are there actually any 9/11 CTs left?

Just watched the second half, will watch the whole thing shortly. Very "con" if you're into the CT approach. It goes a lot into the CT mentality as well. Goes into their inability to construct a viable, coherent scenario for that day's awful events, aside from some nebulous, all encomapssing conspiracy. Worth watching. I'm sure it will repeat all week.

There is a coherent, viable explanation for the days events, and there even was a conspiracy involved - it's just that it's not a conspiracy that the conspiracy theorists like. Maybe 19 islamic terrorists with boxcutters is just too simple. Or maybe it's because the U.S. is the victim instead of the perpetrator.

I'm sure it will repeat all week. I caught snippets of the first half of the show. I think the 'Truther' movement lost a lot of it's momentum when 'Stalag USA' didn't come to pass and agree with scooter's assessment that, various minutiae aside, the overall theme was the failure of the Truthers to rationalize their conspiracy or critically examine the facts. Let's face it, if the PTB wanted to do this for whatever reason the planes were enough, and the show pointed out the inherent shallowness of their spiel - they basically shut their eyes and cover their ears while repeating their SOS. They can't demonstrate how these so-called bombs were planted, let alone how their conspiracy theory fits into the overall geopolitical 'big picture.' I'll try to watch it in it's entirety, some of the simulations were pretty good, but it won't make an impact on Truthers unfortunately. They invested too much into their conspiracy.

I thought it was a pretty good program. They broke down some of the more common CT claims (fire not hot enough, controlled demolition, thermite, and so forth). They used experts in the different fields, simulations, and experiments and presented them to some of the CT's. As you can guess they all made claims of the shadow ops, false-flag ops, and general "I know more than you, but I can't get into it all" tripe. I also showed a scenario I have heard of before about each aircraft being replace in the air with a "rogue", landing the ral A/c's at a secret military base, using the rogues to fly into buildings (except pentagon, that was a cruise missle) put the people all aboard on A/c, then shoot it down over Penn. They showed just the logistics and people involved would make this very impossible. And all during the program they continued to say that the truther would continue to hold to their beliefs. I enjoyed it, though.

It was a good show with an even tone. It was unusual to me because it was really a show about conspiracy thinking using 9/11 as an example. I wish they had been able to follow up on the alleged use of "super thermite" by trying to get the guy pined down on what its properties are and how he knows about it. A paint on incendiary that can cut through heavy steel columns is rather implausible. It was a real weakness in his argument and could serve as an example of conspiratorial thinking.
