Yeah I saw that but Fleming never said that Stephenson was the basis or insperation for Bond. He was indeed a real spy but was nothing like Bond. He spent WWII in NYC and Canada. Several people who were more like Bond than Stepehenson have been mention as inspirations for 007 including Flemming himself . A few are mentioned here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inspirations_for_James_BondI don't consider Wikipedia itself to be a dependable source but this article is linked sources like the BBC that back it claims.

"James Bond is a highly romanticized version of a true spy. The real thing is ...William Stephenson" Ian Fleming, The Times of London October 21, 1962 How does that quote prove that Bond was based on Stephenson? To me it sounds like Fleming was simply saying "Bond is a character in a book, Stephenson is a real spy". It would be like me saying "Captain Jack Sparrow is a highly romanticized version of a true pirate. The real thing is Edward Teach (aka. Blackbeard)."

He sounds like an interesting man. But tell us Moon Man, if Canada is so great, why did he have to leave the country to do something significant? He sounds like an interesting man but there is no basis for the claim that he was the basis for James Bond, he was nothing like double OH seven. I don't think I've known someone to be as consistantly wrong as Moon Man. But several web sites speculate that he was the basis for 007. If thats good enough for such a serious researcher as Moon Man, it should be good enough the like of us, don't you think?

Ew, no. I want to see my boyfriend, and if you can transport anyone across borders, bring him back. He may not be the brightest bulb on the tree, but he understands concepts such as "no heat in a vacuum," which you don't and never have.
Besides which, if you are Saint Nicholas, you've been dead since 343.

I can prove I'm Cluas, just leave out a cold Canadian and it will be empty when you wake up Monday morning. So, I should leave out someone who lives in Saskatoon? Besides, why can't you spell your own name right? It was the day before Christmas, you know, pa "rum" pa pa "rum" The real hoax with Christmas isn't santa, its with Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer. They claim Rudolph is a male, this is a hoax. Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer had a very shiny nose. And if you ever saw him, you would even say it glows. All of the other reindeer used to laugh and call him names. They never let poor Rudolph join in any reindeer games. Then one foggy Christmas Eve Santa came to say: "Rudolph with your nose so bright, won't you guide my sleigh tonight?" Then all the reindeer loved him as they shouted out with glee, Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, you'll go down in history! Male Reindeer lose their antlers the first week of December and on Christmas Eve the lead Reindeer, allegedly Rudolph still has antlers. Thus the lead Reindeer was a female.

Most male reindeer will lose their antlers in December, but not all. Younger males in particular (and Rudolph is always portrayed as relatively young) often retain their antlers into the spring.

The whole argument is bit silly since we're talking about fictional charthers doing the impossible. Keep trying Moon Man one day you'll make a claim that stands up to scrutiny!
