Australia's 40 million dollar gold medal: How much support — financial, medical, coaching, training — would you need to reach the pinnacle of your profession? If you are an athlete in Australia, then about $40 million. That is a conservative estimate of what each Olympic gold medal in the last 20 years has cost Australian taxpayers. [/i] www.crikey.com.au/2008/08/08/40-million-its-how-much-each-gold-medal-costs-us/[/quote] And in the meantime, Aussie kids have about the worst rate of obesity in the world. Sadly, for so many Australians, our self-worth is measured in the success of our athletes. Meanwhile, I see Australia has won a second gold medal, this time for women's freestyle aerials.

How many kids in Australia are going to be inspired to go out and do their best and excel because of the example of their athletes?

I love the way the Aussies always punch above their weight in international sporting events, given a relatively modest population size.

Meanwhile we spent $1 Million on our entire team, and then wonder why we don't get anywhere in the entire games......

Watching the USA - Finland game right now. 5-0 for Team USA in the first period. Go USA!!! Admit it ... you just want revenge, eh? You'll probably get it, Canada always had the most talent but lately they've looked more like a team which makes them a threat to return the favor by a much larger margin this time around. Then again, I've been wrong before...

Canada just beat Slovakia 3-2, so they will indeed be in the gold medal game. The Slovaks put up a good fight, though.

How many kids in Australia are going to be inspired to go out and do their best and excel because of the example of their athletes? I wish it was a lot. In reality, it probably won't be. If success bred inspiration and imitation, we wouldn't have so many obese kids, given our sporting successes in years gone by. And certainly, given our weather conditions, it's hard for many Australians to follow through on any interest in winter sports as our snowfields are small - perhaps 50 kilometres square, with only about four resorts altogether - when you fly from Melbourne to Canberra, you can see the entire snowy area out the plane window. Still, it was pleasing to pass by a couple of ovals full of kids playing cricket this morning as I was driving around town.

Those finishes in the snowboarding giant slalom and the men's team pursuit in speedskating were really close! And we have a chance for two more gold medals in men's curling and hockey.

Are you kidding me? The Winter Olympics were a total sham! Think about it! Everyone knows that Canada had to do good at this games . And have you noticed that Olympic Comittee has started to act very strangely? They obviously don’t want this story getting out. I mean, what would happen if people began asking how Canada won all those Gold medals? Well, they may be able to fool the sheeple, but the members of Olympics for Truth aren’t swallowing their story. Look, don’t take it from me; the British press is convinced as well. But we have to act fast, because the next Olympics are just four years away . I just wanted you to be aware of this, in case I disappear.
