Seeing that there's a bunch of Canucks on here, feel free to discuss anything hockey. Of course, we all know that its the NHL playoffs right now. Are you rooting for any team? What are your predictions? Okay, the playoffs just started.... Here are the matchups:
This is the quarter finals - best out of seven series...
Eastern Conference
Washington vs. Montreal New Jersey vs. Philadelphia Buffalo vs. Boston Pittsburgh vs. Ottawa
Western Conference:
San Jose vs. Colorado Chicago vs. Nashville Phoenix vs. Detroit Vancouver vs. Los Angeles
I'm a Chicago Blackhawks fan of course, and always will be. Maybe some year, LO will get a team in his neighbourhood.

I keep hearing about "Horse Hockey," is that like Canadian Polo? (It's still has to be less cruel to the horses than Water Polo.)

Hard to believe that there's a possibility that either Kitchener-Waterloo, or Hamilton might get an NHL team. Either my backyard or yours. Would be incredible either way. Meanwhile, its refreshing to find someone within 100 km of Toronto who's not a Leaf fan. Thanks for that. ;D

I'd be happy if K-W got a team, it's not that far away and my brother lives in Cambridge. I was born here in Hamilton, but my family lived near Ottawa (in a town called Perth) from 1981 until 1997, so I still feel a connection to that area. But the Leafs suck, so I'd cheer for someone else anyway.

Being from Pittsburgh it's hard to go against the Penguins and, if our lovable waddlers play their "A" game often enough, could repeat, but I'm going to pick Washington. They have just looked so good this year it's hard to see them losing 4 out of 7 games to anyone. My upset special: Detroit returning to the finals. They'll lose again, this time in 6 games to Ovechkin's gang.

As always, I am hoping for the Vancouver Canucks to win the Stanley Cup. Hey, it could happen. It almost happened in 1994, it will happen. Someday. I hope. Please?

Now that Ottawa is out of it my second choice is Montreal... just because no one expected them to last this long. My third choice is Vancouver. After that I don't really care who wins.

Well, hopefully my Hawks will take care of Vancouver tomorrow night. I hope Montreal beats Pittsburgh - such a cinderella story, plus the Habs are one of my favourites (nothing comes close to my Blackhawks though).

The NHL Hockey Update! ....................................... First of all, my Chicago Blackhawks have defeated the Vancouver Canucks in the second round of the playoffs - they'll be in the semi-finals! ..................................................................................................................... ............................ An an incredible win by the Montreal Canadiens tonight who beat the Pittsburgh Penguins in game 7 of the Quarter Finals. Why is this incredible? Well, I'll try to put it in perspective for you. Montreal just barely made the playoffs - they were eight seeded in the Eastern Conference. In the first round they had to play the Washington Capitals who finished first in the entire league. Then in the second round (the Quarter Finals) they had to play last years Stanley Cup Champions. ..................................................................................................................... ......................... I'm hoping of course that my Blackhawks win their next round and go on to the Stanley Cup finals. And I'm hoping that the Canadiens win their next round too, then we'd have a Blackhawks - Canadiens final. That last time that happened was 1973. ..................................................................................................................... ......................... GO HAWKS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, the way I see it, hockey is divided into two groups. The Habs, and the Habs Not. ;D *** Yes, I am terrible. Still, while I am sad the Canucks lost, I have hopes for the Canadiens.

What's odd about this? Well, Montreal Canadiens were actually playing the game in Pittsburgh - this is footage of 20,000 Montreal fans who watched the game at the Bell Centre in Montreal on the big screen there.

I was quite worried about the Canucks until the last game (I'm a Hawks fan). Seems that everybody is blaming Luongo, but their defense has to share some of the blame. What Vancouver needs is more toughness - some guys who play gritty and throw their weight around. You can't have all finesse players and hope to get far in the playoffs.
