From the article. Since I am feeling particularly snarky today, while she is certainly a beauty, I wonder how her family feels about her award winning pole dancing skills.

How had I gone this long without hearing about her? What a piece of work. Her web site claims she is only second to Anne Coulter in popularity. I'll stay far from that race to the bottom.

A very attractive woman, no doubt about that (to my tastes anyway). I didn't see the contest, and haven't watched any of these things since I was a tweener I'd guess (so 30-35 years ago, and it was for "Miss America") so I have no idea how the judges rate things, how the points are awarded (ie. is looking better in a swim suit worth more than being a talented singer/musician, or is it worth less? Just for instance). She had whatever skills and/or "skills" the judges rated higher than her competition for this contest. These "beauty contests" are jokes in my opinion, as it's fairly rare to have any kind of long term success based on being Miss This or That. It has happened, but I'd say those who have done it already knew their strong points, and used these events as a resume builder more than an ultimate goal (as many runner-ups have done, as well)
