It has been revealed to me that we could not have walked on the moon yet because the greatest seer who ever lived had insisted that we would find Quakers there. This was one of Joesph Smith's prediction. So also said Brigham Young who replaced him after he was martyred. In fact, if we walked on the moon then the entire American Educational system is flawed since there is a University named after him.

I do not understand. Quakers, I assume the breakfast food is named after them, were a noble and simple folk. The prophet Joesph Smith (PBUH) insisted that the people living on the moon were just like him.
Ironically, SOME people who frequent this web site insist that HE is the source of all truth. So we cannot have it both ways. I don't see how someone can be a faithful Mormon and also believe the Apollo moon landings were real at the same time.

"rick" If you are here just to provoke Jason over his religious beliefs then you are heading for a ban. From the rules:

...we would find Quakers there. Well, Richard Nixon did speak to the A11 astronauts and he was a Quaker. That is not too far of a stretch.

I usually don't get offended by obvious trolls.
If someone other than Rick wants me to address the issue I will - probably in the Beyond Belief section of the forum, though.
I will note that every Mormon I know (and that's quite a few) believes the moon landings were authentic.

Well, offended or not, I don't like it when someone comes here with what appears to be a personal vendetta against someone else. And since I'm fairly certain that "rick" is a sock puppet of a previously banned member of the forum he's lucky I haven't already banned him.

And I did wonder if "Rick" had been here before.

So does that mean it is really "rick" with a silent "p"?
Apologies, couldn't resist.

But I would also like a source for the supposed Quaker statement. If it was supposedly said by two pominent figures then he should have no problem backing it up with multiple independent sources.

Well it does seem interesting that since his return this time he has started two threads, both aimed at Jason.

Well it does seem interesting that since his return this time he has started two threads, both aimed at Jason. Possibly aimed at me. Since there seems to be some interst in the issue: There is no first-hand source for Joseph Smith claiming that the moon had Quakers on it - the source of the claim appears to be a 1881 journal entry (36 years after Joseph's death) by Oliver B. Huntington, who was quoting a man named Philo Dibble (really) who had supposedly heard some remarks by Joseph claiming the moon was inhabited. Even then, the supposed quote is that the inhabitants of the moon dressed "quite uniformly in something near the Quaker style" - not that they were Quakers. Brigham Young said he believed that the Moon and the Sun were inhabited in at least one address, but didn't give any details as to their customs or manner. His point seems to have been that there are many things in the universe that we are completely ignorant of, not that he knew anything about such inhabitants through prophetic insight. So we have one very questionable supposed quote by Joseph Smith and one somewhat oblique reference by Brigham Young. Not much to build a criticism of a religion on, but pretty much par for the course for anti-Mormon claims. (As you might have guessed, I have seen and debunked this claim before)

(As you might have guessed, I have seen and debunked this claim before) I will make two quick points. 1. I respect your beliefs. 2. This particular troll seems out to get at you. Do not respond. It will not have a happy ending.
