I'm not really into sci-fi, but at least it projects the authenticity of the lunar missions. Hopefully that will annoy the hoax fraternity and make them look even more silly.
On a related topic, one hoax proponent was recently arguing that Apollo 10 was a hoax. Then, out of the blue he claimed that NASA astronauts reported seeing alien UFOs when orbiting the moon. A place that those astronauts could not get to because of radiation. I swear they make it up as they go along.

On a related topic, one hoax proponent was recently arguing that Apollo 10 was a hoax. Then, out of the blue he claimed that NASA astronauts reported seeing alien UFOs when orbiting the moon. I suspect that this was based on one of the weirder woo-woo claims involving "weird music" heard on the VHF radios. I think I've resolved this claim. Apollo 10 was a dress rehearsal for the first landing. The flight went as if they would land and the LM aborted before powered descent. This took Snoopy (the LM) far from Charlie Brown (the CSM) so they could test the LM rendezvous radar and its lesser known backup, the CSM VHF ranging system. The latter measured the CSM's distance to the LM with a series of audio tones on the same radios the crews used to talk to each other. The system measured the phase delay introduced in the tones by the speed of light. At one point the astronauts joke about hearing weird music on their radios. Comments like these are like blood in the water to sharks to the UFO fans. So I looked at the actual transcript and studied the VHF ranging system, and I've concluded that they were simply hearing artifacts of the ranging system as it operated at and beyond its range limit. It was constantly breaking and re-establishing lock on the LM, automatically cycling through its audio tones to do so. Case solved. Not that the True Believers will ever admit it.

I'm afraid the hoax nuts have already ruined this movie for me. If not for them, I'd probably watch this movie in the spirit it was intended: purely as fun, not as any kind of "statement" on NASA's secret conspiratorial leanings.

At one point the astronauts joke about hearing weird music on their radios. Mike Collins makes a similar comment in "Carrying the Fire" and then goes on to explain what caused it. I've seen at least one Youtube video debunking MC's explanation and talking about the "music of space" etc etc

I think I heard about that mission back in the early 1980s. Isn't that the one that was attacked by General Zod?

I looked at the trailer, and while it's obvious that they're using a fisheye lens to film the LM interior, it still seemed to have the correct dimensions. I'll be interested to see how accurately they reproduced the LM when I get to see the actual film.
