Yeah, the phony claims that the birth certificate isn't valid. Some people never give up, do they?

In a more . . . relevant vein, I can't help wondering if I'm feeling the way a lot of people felt when Stalin or Kim Il Sung died. For very nearly ten years, he's been There, even if he himself hasn't been doing anything, being a force in American politics from a cave thousands of miles away. It's just weird to think that he's dead. Foolish to think that it will actually solve anything, of course, but weird to think that it happened. It's going to take a bit of processing, I think.
Though I wish he'd stood trial. I wish he'd been captured alive and actually made to face justice.

Yeah... and Fox has never made a mistake. And the fact that they were citing an unnamed Taliban leader couldn't possibly cast any doubt on it's credibility, right? Whatever. Go ahead and keep living in your delusional world if you really want to.

He died in 2001 according to Fox news. www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,41576,00.html This is a wag the dog story to distract from the phoney birth certificate. For added effect, may I suggest standing on bin Laden's body while you re-state what you just wrote. It will give you even more creedence.

I would not celebrate, as some have been seen doing on the news, the fact that he is dead - to me all life is precious and shouldn't be wasted. Having said that, as the instigator and/or inspiration for terrible crimes, part of me is glad he is out of the way. It would have been good to see him stand trial, but that would have given him a showcase for more of his twisted thinking and a chance for his followers to do something more extravagant.

You mean the non-issue that hardly anybody cares about and that is getting even less press now than it was before it was released? Sure, whatever.

And the CT's are already getting into swing asking about why there are no photographs of the body. I don't think they quite understand the full potential consequences of a bullet to the head...

And I don't think Donald Trump will be celebrating this. I saw pictures of people cheering and waving Obama '08 posters and I've heard some were chanting 'four more years'...

I received an email this morning telling me the news. My immediate reply was 'Well, I guess we will have another conspiracy theory now.' I'm not sure that I want to see the body of someone that has taken a bullet to the head from close quarters - it won't be pleasant. Also, given the reaction to pictures showing Saddam's sons, I think the US administration might be a bit more smart this time.

Just to avoid any problems like we had after Saddam Hussein was executed, I will remind everyone that I do not allow gruesome images in this forum. So please do not post photos of Osama Bin Laden's corpse if they are made available. This includes any of the fake photos that are already circulating.
Anyone who wants to see these photos will be able to find them elsewhere, but I don't want anyone who does not want to see them to inadvertently stumble upon them here.

Gillian is right about it feeling weird, I think. And it was so anticlimactic the way I heard about it too; I had the TV Listings channel on at around midnight and I was just about to turn off the TV and go to bed and then I see this short headline at the top of the screen...
I'm a little worried about what Al-Qaeda might do to avenge him, though.

I certainly would rather have seen him brought to justice than shot in the head. A trial where investigators laid out the evidence in front of Bin Laden and the world followed by a sentencing hearing where a few of the victims could have testified on how 9/11 changed their lives would have been better. But I don't feel sorry to see him go.
