One of the reason I quoted just in case. The vacuum is still there, or not, depending on your point of sucking, or blowing or if there is a bit of dust there.

Weird and weird. Perhaps this wasn't a bug, perhaps it was an intentional attack? Playdor may have been an admitted incompetent (except dirt, he claimed he knew dirt) at all things related to Apollo, but maybe he was better at computer perversion? My first thought was that I broke something when I split the thread because the split feature is relatively new for Proboards. But that wouldn't explain why it only affected Playdor's posts (and not just in this thread). Then I thought maybe Proboards lets people delete their posts even after they have been banned, but it doesn't make sense that there would be no record of it in the security log.

I got a response from Proboards Support today. Apparently Playdor requested that they remove his posts. I consider this yet another reason create a new forum hosted elsewhere.

Might as well close this thread, then. Without playdor's messages it's meaningless.
... Wait, that didn't come out right. "Lost its context," that's what it's done.

Wow, that is an <expletive redacted/> move if I ever saw one. Nice, Playdor, wherever you are, wherever you lurk, nice.

I have never liked the fact that some idiot troll could file a false "abuse" claim with Proboards and basically get this forum shut down. And now that I know that they don't seem to investigate such claims or even ask for my side of the story before acting I hate it even more.
The ONLY reason I didn't move the forum to another service years ago is because I wouldn't be able to transfer the posts or user database. I don't like asking you all to re-register and start fresh. But... grrr... things like this make me reconsider it.

I know that you had talked about doing this before, and the problem arose of not being able to transfer these threads to the new board. Couldn't this entire board be locked as an archive, and links be made by posters to it when necessary?

Yes, I could (and would) do that. I'm just worried that Proboards will delete it if it become inactive for a certain length of time.
But I think the time is coming where moving just makes more sense than staying.

That they acted on an abuse claim without any investigation or even checking with the accused party is simply outrageous. You pay money to these people?

It tells us one thing about Playdor, he has enough sense to realize that he embarrassed himself during his time on this board. It is more personal objectivity than I would have thought he possessed.
But I wonder why the Playdor name was important enough to him to try to hide the source of his embarrassment. An attempt that failed because he is quoted sufficiently to document the depth of his ignorance. Now there is further embarrassment because his attempts to cover his tracks not only failed but are public knowledge.

Wouldn't it be possible to write a script to copy all the posts to another service? I tried a Proboards to phpbb3 converter a few years ago but it didn't work very well. And now it appears the converter is no longer available because Proboards threatened legal action. I just looked through the Terms of Service and I can't find any claim of copyright over the content of the forum. But nonetheless they don't currently allow me to backup or export the content. There is talk of backups being possible with the version 5 software which is currently in beta testing. But I suspect that they will be formatted in a way that will only allow them to be imported back into Proboards.

No, I've never liked the service enough to give them money. It seemed to be the least junky of the free forum services back in 2005 when I created it, but now there are better free forums and it's just pathetic how outdated Proboards is. But I'll never choose a free service again, it takes control out of my hands (and gives it to the trolls, apparently).

Playdor, should you happen to read this, please understand that your ignorance and dishonesty are very well documented here in quoted form, and that your desperate attempt to cover your tracks has failed. Crying to the hosting service after getting spanked so badly just makes your humiliation worse.
