I figured the Gibson. I like the context in which you took it.
When I joined my first isp I was suffering writer's block....hence "no muse." Since then I've made it my all-purpose handle. And the writer's block seems to be permanent.

At the time I was registering on my first bulletin board (BABB) I couldn't think of anything catchy so I just used by name. Sorry guys for being so boring.

When I registered here I was looking for a user name that I could also use elsewhere, so I needed reasonable assurance that it would not be very common. It also needed to be something easy to remember and have a password that I could easily associate with the name. Echnaton is the German transliteration for an Egyptian Pharaoh, in English he is called Akhnaten. I chose this because it is the title of a favorite opera by Philip Glass. I have seen productions in both Houston and Stuttgart and decided the German spelling would likely be less popular than the English version.

LOL! And there I was thinking you'd appropriated the name of a character in an Asterix book! :-)

Incidentally, yes, my name has a very boring origin.
If I was to choose a new handle, I might go for "Amused." I used it for a while on a work bulletin board because I was amused at the outrageous and convoluted theories some of my fellow employees came up with to explain various events.

I thought mine would be obvious......
hehehehehe
Actually, I have another net-identity which I use. PeterB knows it because we both use another forum from whence it originated (there's a story behind that one, but it's for another day).
Anyways, I started reading the comic Non Sequitur and just loved the character of Obviousman. So I used it.

Mine is classified and only given out on a need to know basis. At least that's what the HB's think. ;D
Actually it's really just a short abbreviation for "freak of nature" that I tried out years ago and use everywhere as nobody else on the net ever uses it. I have since found out it is also a Latin word but I can't remember what it means. Nothing special though.

When I started posting I was looking at a hunting BB ran by a fellow from Idaho. This started me thinking about my summers as a youth fishing along the snake river. rufus just seemed to round it out nicely ;D

Skinbath is the title of an instrumental tune I wrote last year while at college learning a couple of music computer programs (Cubase,Logic,etc)...I`ve played for around 30 years and needed to be able to record etc at home.... I`ve been a single parent of 3 kids for the past 8 years which puts a bit of a barrier on playing live. Inspiration for the name itself comes from the fact that until 10 years ago and for 13 years of my life I was a heroin addict and alcoholic.....I steadily worked my way from the top to the bottom and when at death`s door, something enabled me to recover.....I don`t wish to get too deep here.....but for me it was a cleansing of the body and mind.......hence the name........ I feel more than a little foolish and uncomfortable for revealing what I have but for me it`s all part of an ongoing recovery,of which truth and honesty play a big part.......in doing so,I guess a mixture of the following applies....... It's great that you were able to kick your habit. I have [had RIP] a few friends who "had a relationship with a needle" as well as other dependencies some recovered others didn't. A lot of my favorite musicians had habits too [Billie Holiday, Ray Charles, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Johnny Cash, Iggy, Dee Dee Ramone, Johnny Thunders, John Lennon, Hendrix, Janis, Neil Young Brian Jones, Keith Richards, Syd Barrett etc.] again some of them were able kick it others weren't. Were you ever in a band?

My handle is just a combination of two "real world" nicknames I've had over the years, both based on my real first name (Barry).

My first name is Gerald, which has been shortened to Gez by my friends ever since I was very small. A few years ago we had an Australian temp working in our office, and she said my short name reminded her of an Australian Football star called Gezalenko. Then people started using it for me. I've just looked on Google and found that his name is actually spelled (Alex) Jesaulenko. Hmmm . . . .
