If the Chinese controlled the Internet, you wouldn't have forum posts like this (I still can't figure out what's going on here):
Living in a War ZoneAt least thats what it sounds like at the moment outside my house. God knows whats being set off, but apart from the sound of mortars, theres something doing a credible imitation of a GPMG on short bursts. And thats without actually looking out of the window.
Anyone else got it?
WTM
The same here...
But I must admit that I'm actually taken no notice of the noise at all... it's just there in the back ground.

Very noisy here to, seems to be a skirmish outside the front door and casualty isn't on yet. J.B.

Same here, 3 cats sat on the wall watching the proceedings, 2 cats inside fast asleep.
Sat, 03/11/07@20:30
Plenty here too in Manchester, my cat is sat in the window facinated watching the fireworks.
Sat, 03/11/07@20:34
They sound like Thunderflashes and look like Very Lights crossed with Maroons!
Sat, 03/11/07@20:41
Theres a very fast ripping sound
now and again. MG42 perhaps?
Strange about peoples cats though. Not all are stereotypically terrified. I dont know if cats have colour perception or not, but maybe its the motion of the lights that facinate some of them

Firework display in the field next to my horses - they haven't bothered to move from their evening hay - just all facing the fireworks. Cats hiding in the barn though.
Sat, 03/11/07@20:53
It's the movement that facnates them, WTM.

Can't wait.

Well I for one am happily aware that our 7 months old kitten is totally and literally sh*t scared of fireworks.
Let me tell you why.
Week before was taking said kitten to it's bed for the night. Without cause or reason the bloody moggie had a fit and dug one of it's claws into my left wrist.
Washed the small wound and applied antiseptic cream. Results was a week and a half off work with severely infected left arm. Penicillin tablets the size only a horse should take, four times a day. Oh yes; tablets for a fortnight.
I dislike cats, always have, but the better half says it's good for tots to have animals about the house. What's wrong with just having goldfish..sigh.
Sat, 03/11/07@23:14
Those penicillin tablets
probably arent the kind you swallow. But its probably too late for that as well....
Sat, 03/11/07@23:18
LOL..glad that they were meant orally, the other way doesn't bear thinking about..

Not to be out done last night one of the houses near me decided to set off light illuminated flares into the night sky.
Looked more like a scene from Vietnam!
