You're missing the bigger picture here...
THE HIMALAYA MOUNTAINS DON"T EVEN EXIST!
The deception began after the publishing of a novel in the late 1930's called "Lost Horizons" by John Hilton. The book is about a mythical city called Shagri-La hidden amongst the fictitious Himalyan mountains, supposedly located between Nepal and Tibet in China. This story captured the imagination of the public, so much so that many began journeying to China, wondering if such a place really existed and to at least be able to see these mythical mountains.
The Chinese, having never seen such an influx of foreigners before, were rather bemused at first and so humoured them about these fantasical mountains, telling them tall tales to whet their appetites, all the while raking in a fortune from selling their wares, thus beginning a major boom to their tourist industry, the likes of which had never been seen there before. However, they were always cunning enough to keep the tourists at bay from their actual goal, with Tibet and Nepal in particular stopping them treking any further by always appearing to have road works going on or overturned carts blocking the way or dangerous moonsoons forecast (even though they never came to pass) or maybe it was the wrong astrologicial year (eg: the year of the chicken) or just any other manner of excuses so they would have to be diverted onto another region and never get to see what they came for. Often the visitors, too embarrassed to say they hadn't actually seen the mountains, would fib after returning home with their own tall tales of what they had supposedly seen and so the myth would grow, getting more sophisticated with every retelling.
However, as time went on, the Chinese became increasingly alarmed at the larger and larger hoards of foreigners coming in search of this flight of fantasy, tromping on their land and infecting their culture with their odd ideas, and in spite of the huge boost to their economy, they feared soon the jig would be up. It was with great relief to them then, that the People's Republic Of China was established in 1949. Having now gone communist, China didn't have to make excuses to keep foreigners out - they could simply do it. And most wanted to stay away from then on in any case.
And so it appeared that the secret of the Himalayas was safe. It would be the end of the matter. And in a few years it would all be forgotten.
But it was not the end of the matter. New Zealander Edmund Hillary, bored with climbing Mount Cook all the time (starting with when he was a boy), and finding it a little low for his purposes (more like just a big hill really) was not going to let the matter end. He wanted to conquer something big, I mean really big. He had heard about Mount Everest supposedly being the highest mountain in the world, the rather elaborate and sophisticated tales permeating from China by now having even included the names of some of the mountains in this Himalaya range, and, in some cases, even their heights. Edmund was determined - he had to conquer the biggest, the tallest, the best. Nothing less would suffice.
So, in 1952, Mr. Hillary approached the Chinese government (and in particular Tibet) to get permission to climb Mount Everest. The horror and repercussions of his request initially frightened them, so he was turned down. They just hoped he would go away. In no way could the glory of a new communist government be exposed with such a shameful deception. However, Edmund did not go away. And neither did the NZ Government who, wanting to instill kiwi pride into a rather conservative nation which is usually pretty shy at stepping forward, put pressure on China, claiming that they might expose China's covert operations helping North Korea during the then-current Korean war. So, finally, in 1953, they relented.
However, by then they had worked out a cunning plan. They would finally "prove" to the world once and for all of the existence of The Himalayas. Let this gullible country hick from this backward country from down under climb his mountain. And then no one else would bother them about it again would they?
So, when Edmund's mountaineering party reached Tibet, before being shown the actual "mountains", a traditional tea ceremony was held in Edmund's honour. However, all was not as it seemed. The tea contained special herbs which put Mr. Hillary and his entourage into a hypnotic trance, and thus it was able to be suggested to them to see things they didn't see and climb things they didn't climb. Even film was used of proof of this climb. While still under this hypnotic suggestion, but looking as if wide awake and themselves, they actually climbed a number of small hills, sometimes with painted scenery in the background. In some cases, they even climbed the same hills more than once - but with a few rocks shuffled around etc which is pretty obvious to see once you look for it, and some of the background scenery is obviously used more than once too. (As an aside, this technique was later used, with much less success, during the Apollo 16 moon landing).
So in no way should this deception be blamed upon Sir Hillary, who himself was duped. Until his death he still actually pretty much believed had had really conquered Everest as did almost everybody else by now. This includes most the Chinese who, at this juncture, being a new generation, do not know the true history of the mountains and so believe the holographic images are real as they have been brought up to believe. The truth is therefore now only in the hands of an elite few.
There were signs towards the end of Sir Edmund's life that he was breaking from his programming which is why he was prematurely terminated (a poison designed to simulate natural causes). Incidentally, similar hypnotic techniques were also used on at least some of the Apollo astronauts which is why they swear they were on the moon but can't always remember many, if any, of the details.
The deception has become increasingly more sophisticated over the years with access to new technology. Currently the Himalayas are being projected continuously through holographic 3D technology, and when climbers request permission to climb them, they are freely supplied with "safety" gear such as helmets. However, what the explorers do not know is that they are actually being given virtual reality equipment creating a simulation that makes them actually think they are climbing a mountain - they can feel it, taste it, touch it.
But 3D software is complicated and has its glitches. So, behind the scenes, this mountain range is now actually being built using millions of chinese communist slaves (ones who have disappeared from their homes over the years) who live in the most outrageously depraved conditions. Some of these slaves include foreigners who have also disappeared, having asked too many questions, and some who have supposedly died after attempting the climb, when in fact the virtual reality programming had crashed, revealing the truth (perhaps the software shouldn't have been Windows-based - that blue screen with hexadecimal numbers is a dead giveaway). Many many die every day under this enslavement and, when the mountains are finally finished, the rest will not be permitted to live...of course. And I don't even want to go into where all the
dirt is coming from.
NB: A major catastrophic accident during the elaborate building of this mountain caused the tsunami on Boxing Day 2004. No one is talking.
