So now Vittorio ("unknown", "bush") is posting is standard crap at the Apollo-hoax Yahoo group -- same opening shot as here, no change. Only our resident "genius" can't seem to figure out how to post to the group instead of sending the replies to me personally. Even Plautus Satire figured that one out. I think he has a new identity in the Yahoo forum, acipollo2005. Maybe they are different, but I do not think so... Martin

Sorry I have not been posting on the thread I started. For some reason, [dig="subtle]This forum has stopped giving me e-mail notifications[/dig] Question 1)- Was Unknown, Unknown because he did not register and was posting as a guest or was that a real user name? If the former, it shows some cowadice in that they will not stand by what drivel they throw at us. Question 2) JayUtah, do you ever feel like you are smashing your head against a brick wall with these people Question 3) Can I get e-mail notifications please. If I may return to the original concept about the credibility issue, I will sum it up here, if I can. The idea of going to another world and getting back safely was just sci-fi at the beginning of the 20th Century (or perhaps even earlier) It was so fantastic, but people tend to ignore the progress that people do in their back rooms and potting sheds, and when something like the first Heavier than air craft flies, it seems magical to the person who has not followed the painstaking progress to that goal. The progress to the moon, started not with Robert Goddard or Kennedy, but with the Chinese who invented the rocket, as in pyrotechnic. Getting something to fly up using a chemical propellant. Later people come along and build upon this research and refine techniques, and so we get the technology of today. Even so the idea of going to another world and getting back safely captured the whole world, and for that one instant, the whole of humanity were united. When i watch that bit on the film the Dish, it still brings a tear to the eye. We were all one. It was not just about visiting a rock in space. However, as time passes, the sceptics pop up and hint, "why are you so nieve", "I bet you still believe in fairies" This drip drip effect continues, and then you get incidents like Arms for Iran and supporting the Contra Rebels, Watergate, whateveryoucanthinkofsolongasyoustickgateontheend-gate The whispers continue. To quote from the X-files "I want to believe" But it gets harder as time passes America is the great Satan On one forum I post on, someone spells it Amerika, so henous is this one nation. They are seen as being so steeped in corruption, and the belief is strong that they lie and cheat. How can you believe anything they say, we are told. By inuendo, there is no credibility left. What NASA claims is tainted by this perception of a credibility gap. So no one who does not want to be accused of being a naive simplton who swallows anything, must come to the conclusion that NASA lied. However life aint that simple People are so forgetful What was happening in the 1960's? Does the expression "Cold War ring any bells" This is why I like the film The Dish, so much. Other countries could verify this. NASA has independant coroboration. (If I remember my maiden post on BA I asked for this evidence, although I knew it would be an easy one to answer) So with the independant evidence from non-American sources, why is there still a question of credibility about the Apollo Missions What did I miss?

Some people seem to seriously believe the US is SO evil--and so completely omnipotent--that in our infinite nefarious cleverness we simply found a way to pull the wool over the eyes of impartial observers; we somehow have powers over even our most qualified scrutinizers.

This includes the ability to murder whistleblowers in a number of ways - an astronaut has a heart attack or a motorcycle accident, or dies in a spacecraft accident, or somone else dies of cancer, etc. - to silence them when they are just about to blow the whistle on the whole thing*. And yet, this omnipotent, infinitely nefarious and clever government somehow can't get their hands on the likes of Sibrel, Kaysing, etc. Mmmmm.... Strong in the Force they must be....
* Or they just did blow the whistle on the whole thing, but it turns out it was a whistle only dogs can hear.

If the former, it shows some cowadice in that they will not stand by what drivel they throw at us. I think it is his real user name. Then after he is banned, he became unknown at TheSpaceRace forum and called LunarOrbit the biggest idiot he has ever met. He did not stay in this forum long ;D ;D ;D But he did not hide his email address, so maybe his name is Vittorio Ferrari. Then he came back here as bush, now he is Jack Chirac at Yahoo. I think he is also apicollo, who is saying he agrees with Jack Chirac, but maybe this is a different person... Martin

I think we can rely on ability more than good will. This hoax is impossible to cover up, as many are always saying. If this is so, then if US is good or evil is not important... Martin

For some reason, [dig="subtle]This forum has stopped giving me e-mail notifications[/dig] Question 3) Can I get e-mail notifications please. This (new) forum does not appear to have that feature and unfortunately there is nothing I can do about it as I do not have access to the source code (or the programming abilities required to add such a feature, for that matter). Sorry, but I guess that is just one of the drawbacks of using a free service. Unknown was his username. Unregistered guests can not post. I don't think it's fair to accuse a hoax believer of cowardice just because they use an alias... afterall, most people in this forum use one. Your name isn't really "Sticks", is it?

I think you are interpreting the comment of sticks wrongly. He is saying former, which is to post as guest. There are many things of unknown which I do not like, but he is not afraid to say what he believes... Martin

I think you are interpreting the comment of sticks wrongly. He is saying former, which is to register as guest. Ah, yes, you're right. He said "former". Sorry, Sticks. And upon futher inspection I also take back what I said about the email notifications... it looks like the forum does in fact have that feature. When in a thread you would like to receive email notifications for, click on the "bookmark" link near the bottom of the forum. By default the bookmarks do not send notifications, you have to turn that feature on. Here's how: 1) Click on the " Profile" link at the top of the forum 2) Click the " Bookmarks" link at the top of the profile page 3) Click " Manage Bookmarks" 4) In the drop-down box under the line that starts "By default, when you bookmark at thread..." select either "No Notification", "Private Message (PM)", or "Email".

For the record, Sticks is a contraction of my surname Stickings, which someone once did

Yes, that is why I didn't originally think there was a notification feature... I knew about the bookmarks but notifications is burried pretty deep. I can sort of understand why... I imagine sending out thousands (if not millions) of topic reply notifications every day puts a strain on the Proboards servers.

I think he is also apicollo, who is saying he agrees with Jack Chirac, but maybe this is a different person... Apicollo is posting some more at yahoo forum, I am very sure he is unknown/bush/jack chirac. So he is having a conversation with himself at that forum... Martin

So he is having a conversation with himself at that forum... That's more than he did here. During his stay at this forum he just tried to bludgeon us with nonsense. Having a conversation seemed to be the last thing on his agenda.
