"Cheer up!" they said, "It could be worse!" So I did, and it was.

They also used clips from The Dam Busters, an outstanding movie released year before BaTR. It also involved tight, low-level bomb runs, in the face of intense flak, against difficult targets, in this case using inovative targeting devices and specially-made bombs. Highly recommended! You don't have to tell me: generations of British kids (and drunks) have made goggles of their fingers and run around humming/singing: "NER-ner-ner-NER-ner-ner-ner-ner...." ;D

If that doesn't define "a classic", I don't know what does!

I remember seeing a movie decades ago in which the Allies had to skip a bomb off a lake (like skipping a stone) into a dam in order to derail Germany's atomic bomb program. Was that "The Dam Busters"?

I think you might be confusing two movies.
"The Dam Busters" is based on the Paul Brickhill book of the same name. The Dam Busters were British bombers who were sent on a mission to destroy some dams in Germany. The dams provided water and electricity for industry in the regions of the dams.
Then there's the movie "The Heroes of Telemark." It's about a mission by Norwegian agents to destroy the Norsk power station in Norway which was producing heavy water which the Germans could use in their atomic bomb project. The power station was at some stage attacked by British bombers, but as the power station was in a narrow valley, there was no use for skipping bombs. The Germans gathered some of the heavy water and intended to transport it to Germany, but the agents then sank the barge carrying the drums of heavy water.

He may be thinking of 633 Squadron, starring Cliff Robertson.
From the Internet Movie Database: This movie wasn't as good as the others.

Then there's the movie "The Heroes of Telemark." As a completely irrelevant aside (though the entire thread seems to have wandered off into the land of Digressia...), I'll see the title of that movie on my digital cable guide every so often, and I can't help but mentally append "-eting" onto the end of it, and wonder what sort of propaganda about annoying salesmen it could possibly be.

Well lets continue in the land of digression - my main intrest is model making, in particulat large scale jet aircraft , and to-day I got a 1/32nd model of an F9F-5 Panther - with BaTKR markings , (Golden Dragons !)
I know what's next dowwn my production line - and after , well I'm toying with the idea of starting my 1/32nd LM - bought years ago - its pretty crude , but hey its a LM !!!!!
