In one episode of CSI 'Griss" states authoritatively the suicide jumpers who wear glasses take their glasses off before jumping. Supposedly so that they won't see what is happening very well.
If he had said that they "often" remove their glasses I would not have taken exception to the statement but he didn't, he was stating that it happens every time. I didn't buy it. On almost every episode thing shappen in the lab in one day that would normally take days.
However I agree that , at least in the original series, they follow decent scientific procedures and reasonings. That does not necessarily hold for the CSI Miami which I cannot stand. CSI NY I have seen only twice but seems to follow more the same as the original.
As I said if a program puts the science people as heros its alright by me.

Hrm. The one episode I saw of NY was full of meaningless technobabble and unbelievable hand equipment. They might as well have had Geordi out there with a tricorder.
The death knell I'm seeing is as the count of episodes done gets longer and longer, not only do they have to reach for more unusual and unlikely cases, but they start getting into personal nemesis stories and all that tired super-crook stuff. CSI is most fun when it's geeky people doing science. Least fun when it's the requisite good-lookers busting down doors and having personal crisis'.

My main issue with CSI was "CSI: Fur and Loathing". This has nothing to do with science, though; I just say, as a friend of furries, that it depicted furries in very bad light. Though I'm not surprised; furs get the short end of the stick in most cases. Just that Fur and Loathing was a bit... over the top.
Though, at the end of the episode, when it was shown that the victim had died because some guy had gone gun-happy with a rifle, shooting at something that he assumed was a coyote, he got off scot-free because "it was an accident". Nuh-uh, not how the law works in Las Vegas. He would've been arrested for Manslaughter, and rightly so.

CSI (not the clones) has lost much of its appeal for me. Many of the shows seem to involve some sort of "strange" or "weird" activity, and generally presents it in a bad light. It hasn't just been furries - swingers, Sherlock Holmes afficianados and similar things. To me, the show seems to be saying "Look, they're doing weird stuff, and it's BAD". So I've switched to MythBusters

Maybe somebody should get the Mythbusters to test stuff related to the Apollo Moon Landings (Fluttering flag, dust etc). That would be awesome.

Would't that entail them actually going to the Moon? I guess that would prove it was possible! But I don't think it's in their budget.

Co-presenter Adam Savage also works in the cinema special-effects industry. He's worked on space films including, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace and Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Galaxy Quest, Terminator 3, A.I. and the Matrix sequels. The HBs wouldn't buy it because they think Apollo was shot on a sound stage by people like Adam Savage.

I thought both Adam and Jamie were in the cinema special-effects industry? Well, hmm. If they, with their experience, can replicate a fluttering flag like on the footage in a stage with 60s technology, I'm going to be in serious doubts. Good point though.
