How far away from the planned landing site did Apollo 11 end up? According to Apollo by Numbers, 22,500 feet (just over 4 1/4 miles) west of the center of the landing ellipse.

Thanks all for the additional information.
You know, we talk about the differences between HBs and the pro-Apollo crowd, but I do think this is a strong one. I did not have a piece of information. Rather than assume that it was PROOF of a HOAX!!!!eleventy-one!!@, I asked for the information; upon receiving it, I was polite and grateful, rather than rude and grating. Would that this behaviour could be impressed upon certain others around here!

"A dream is wish your heart makes..."
Amen, gillian. I also enjoy the way we correct and expand on each others thoughts. It is the very apotheosis of a "constructive learning environment".

Conspiracy theorists vastly overestimate how many people actually believe them. As demonstrated when Buzz Aldrin appeared on a UK chat show last week. With a small prompt from the host, the audience ended up chanting "shame on you" to Bart Sibrel. Doh! I missed that. What show and when? Do you know if it will get repeated? EDIT Found it - Al Murrays Happy Hour. Repeated on Wed at 9pm on ITV 2 - if its the same one that had Linda Lusardi in it.

My books are back down south so I can't check. But if it was an objective to capture the Apollo 11 landing site, then it would be to photograph the area from Yankee Clipper, not to photograph the flag specifically from Oceanus Procellarum.
