From the London Times: So, should the allegations prove correct, would anyone object to execution for this individual? I object, strenuously. The death penalty is always wrong. No ifs, ands, or buts.

Well, in the interests of full disclosure, I should say that there is one recent exception. There is a Canadian who committed a crime in the US on death row right now. In the past, the Canadian government has always petitioned the US government to let him stand trial in Canada or at least to forgo the death penalty (and, as far as I know, the US has never agreed to the request). This time, though, the government didn't bother. It was a bit of a black mark, in my opinion. So do you believe the Candian government effectively killed that man by letting him go back to the US? Well he was in the US to begin with - the government just didn't bother to ask for a stay of execution. A stay which has never been granted in the past. But, yes, I would say that the Canadian government is just as culpable as the US/state government in this case.

Are you sure it wasn't extradition? How could one confirm or deny this? Well, in the Arar case, it was definitely rendition. Even certain US senators recognize this. Actually, yes. We do not extradite criminals if they will face the death penalty. We require an assurance that it will not be used before we hand anyone over.

It's good to see people coming back again. This forum has it's pros and cons... the theme was much easier to modify than the phpbb was, that's for sure. I'm not happy about some of the missing features, but they're mostly things that are "behind the scenes" so most people won't notice a difference. I don't know. I prefer phpBB. Seems a little less slipshod, if you catch my meaning.

Blasted usernames. Why is a space an invalid character?
