Wait, isn't the very existence of 2001 the Ultimate Proof that the whole thing Could Have Been Faked though? Because everything was so accurate and all, on account of Kubrick being such an obsessive cinematographer...I realize that the above was said rather "tongue-in-cheek" in keeping with the overall tone of the thread... however, with regards to the "accuracy" of 2001 vs. the reality of Apollo: Astrobrant2's "Kubric, 2001, and Apollo" parts 1 and 2 ** FYI: the audio for the first few minutes of part 1 is from a trailer for 2001 and is quite loud compared to the rest of the video. ** Cz

SrtayDog is Duane Damon, the guy who has had himself banned from pretty much all the "normal" forums for constant rule / etiquette violations. He was recently re-instated at EF, but then fell back into his usual habits and was put back on moderation there. He has proven time and again that he has no actual debate skills, no actual knowledge of what he speaks, and no desire to educate himself beyond what Jarrah and other die-hard CT's spoonfeed him.

A fairly quick look through the Apollo 11 air-to-ground transcripts finds this:

Apparently the moron can't even ask a legitimate question. While all 3 Apollo 11 astronaut's names were on the presentation card that came with the "rock" that was given to Drees, it was Ambassador Middendorf who presented the rock in the first place. There is nothing anywhere (that I can find, at least) that states that Neil, Buzz or Mike were there at the presentation. Cz

Here's the original "One Froggy Evening":
And here's the "sequel" from 40 years later, "Another Froggy Evening":
The original is still my favourite.

Lens design will effect the way the flare looks as well.

Am I missing something here? He keeps qouting things which state a 60mm focal length lens was used, but claims an 80mm lens was used? And then mixes it up with the 70mm form factor of the film? No, you're not missing anything. Duane is just a willfully ignorant incompetent idiot with delusions of adequacy. Cz

They do make off-road Segways. I've even seen them with snow tires and chains for winter use. Segway x2 AdventureCz

And now they are going off about there being only a single pair of tracks, which they claim is impossible for a 4 wheeled vehicle Someone should ask them how many pairs of tracks their 4-wheeled cars leave. In retrospect its probably a good thing I'm not a member there since undoubtedly I would say something to White / Fitz about their general incompetence which would most likely result in me being banned.... A forum that calls itself the "Education Forum" is doing itself a disservice by allowing this kind of debacle to continue and to allow members like White and Fetz the latitude and apparent preferential treatment they have and continue to receive.
Just my opinion... I'm not a member there so take it for what its worth.

KAL 007 is all the evidence I personally need as proof of the Cold War tension. Hard to believe it was 27 years ago (two days ago), but I can still clearly remember laying in bed listening to the first news reports coming in on the radio, wondering what kind of response would be forthcoming and if I'd be alive to see Christmas or my 16th birthday. I'm not sure if Vancouver was ever a primary target, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was. The proximity of the US Pacific Fleet's main nuclear submarine base roughly 100 miles south also meant that, if nothing else, we would be majorly affected by fallout.
Definitely one of the most terrifying times of my life...

Flezer also says "the rarified atmosphere on the moon". So now he is claiming the moon has an atmosphere. Did he get his PhD in stupidity? Technically speaking, the Moon does have an atmosphere. It is less than 100 trillionth the density of Earth's atmosphere at sea level with a total approximate mass of about 10 metric tons, but it exists nonetheless... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon#Atmosphereen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atmosphere_of_the_MoonWhether or not Fetz knows that much, I don't know, however... The one plot device that always gets me shaking my head is when someone gets "phased" and can walk through people, walls, etc. yet they never seem to fall through the floors (example: ST:TNG Season 5 episode "The Next Phase"). Cz Silly. They are wearing shoes with phase resistant soles. ;D Oddly enough I had thought of that. However, in that particular episode, when the Romulan who was also "phased" gets thrown through one of the Enterprise-D's exterior walls and into hard vacuum, his shoes go with him, ergo, no phase resistant shoes...
