It looks like I'm the first person, other than the site administrator, to register here. Unfortunately the system would not accept my normal user name "Bob B." because of invalid characters.
LunarOrbit, I appreciate your work in setting up this forum. Time will tell whether it picks up where the old Apollohoax left off. Have we given up hope of recovering the old forum?

Actually, CaptainKidd registered before you. Sorry. ;D
I'm not sure if John Witts has had any luck contacting the Jonathan (the original owner) or the guy responsible for the hosting. It doesn't look good, unfortunately.
Eventually the domain name will be released by the registrar... if someone can snag it we can point it to this forum. It's not a perfect solution but at least it will keep the name in the hands of people who support the truth, not the hoax theory.

He has registered but he didn't receive the email containing his password. I've sent him a new password so he should be able to login now.

Blasted usernames. Why is a space an invalid character?

We actually have two names... a username (used for logging in etc.) that doesn't allow spaces, and a display name that everyone else sees. The display name can have spaces. You can actually change your display name any time you want, which I think could cause problems... imagine someone like Ong or xoox changing their name any time they feel like it.

That's cool, I just got may usual name back. After my recent experience at GLP I can see where this would be a real problem. All the anonymous posting and aliases used on that site is a nightmare. A guy like IDW would have a field day with it. I would favor turning off this feature if possible.

It doesn't look like I can turn it off. Proboards has a major upgrade in the works though so maybe that will fix it. The upgrade should take place between May 9 - 13.
I guess I could always make an official rule: "Changing your name too often shall result in a ban" or something like that.
