Moon Man has been permanently banned for posting graphic images of an executed Saddam Hussein after I warned him in a private message not to do so.
I will repeat for anyone who isn't clear on this: posting images or video from ANY execution will get you banned.

I think I am beginning to detect a pattern here. Yes, the pattern is: a moron posts gruesome images of an execution and gets banned; then a second moron posts gruesome images of an execution. Guess what... he got banned too! Anyone else want to try posting gruesome images of an execution to test Spongebob's theory? I don't care if other sites think it's ok to host those images or videos, and I don't care if it's easy to find them. I'm only concerned with two things: 1) whether the Proboards Terms of Service permits them; and 2) whether I, the owner of this forum, want to allow them. Some sites allow child pornography, and it's probably easy to find if you try. Does that mean I have to allow it here? Do I have to follow the same standards of decency as every other website? The idea that Moon Man was banned because he believes something that I don't is ridiculous. If that were the case then Moon Man would not have made nearly 600 posts. Do you think I just noticed him for the first time today? I also would have deleted all of his posts if they concerned me (instead I leave them as evidence of his stupidity). Hoax believers just like to believe they are victims. Edited to add: This was in response to one of Spongebob's whiny "hoax believers are treated unfairly" posts, which apparently he deleted while I was responding. Edit #2: ok, what the hell? Now his post is back... but it's after my reply?

Moon Man has been permanently banned I think I am beginning to detect a pattern here. for posting graphic images of an executed Saddam Hussein I didn't see the images so I don't know where he got them from. But video of Saddam Hussein's execution is hosted by YouTube, Google and dozens of other sites. Anyone having even the most basic grasp of how to do a search could find these images in seconds. I have little doubt that the vast majority here have viewed them already. If GOOGLE are prepared to host these images, then it is a nonsense to suggest that a member should be banned for posting them on a forum which states "You can discuss almost anything here". Except of course, we all know that wasn't the real reason MoonMan went to join Lunatic, margamatix et al...[/quote]

If people WANT to look for them they can. Posting them directly into the forum doesn't give people enough warning and results in some people seeing something they didn't want to.

How so? (1) Proboards (2) Me Looks like two things to me. If I feel the Proboards rules are vague or omit something important I can add as many rules as I want. I just can't allow something that the Proboards rules prohibit.

If Moon Man was banned for being a hoax believer, as you theorize Sponge Bob, then why are you not banned? You don't even have a warning level (yet).

If they wanted to, yes. If they wanted to. I do not want to, and I certainly don't want to come across them unexpectedly in a forum I'm perusing over my breakfast.

Spongebob - why don't you try getting a clue ?
If this site simply wanted to ban HBs, why isn't Turbonium banned ?
How does posting video of an execution add anything at all to the debates that are on this board ?
Looking forward to seeing your apology on this one.

And I certainly did not want to come across them late at night before trying to get to sleep. The argument that images that are easy to find on the net and therefor should be allowed to be posted is heavily flawed, for an example of why try a little Google for "Doug Winger" and browse through the image galleries that brings up then see if you still think its a good idea (note to the curious: If you value your sanity and/or eyeballs you probably don't want to look at Doug's work, and it is extremely Not Safe For Work (or most other places)).

That's a pretty pathetic retort. You are just arguing for the sake of arguing now. You don't have a leg to stand on. We all agreed to the rules posted when we signed up, so Moon Man's banning should not come as any surprise to you. The reason HB's keep getting banned is because they keep breaking the rules as a last resort to claim martyrdom on other forums. Plenty of HB's such as you have not been banned because you respect the rules of the forum, and there is at least one instance where an AB got banned for breaking the rules, and another has a 50% warning.

That's a pretty pathetic retort. You are just arguing for the sake of arguing now. You don't have a leg to stand on. We all agreed to the rules posted when we signed up. I didn't see MoonMan's post, but video of Saddam Hussein's execution has been shown in the UK on BBC1, BBC2, BBC4, ITV, ITV2, Sky TV, and CNN, and still photographs of Saddam Hussein standing on the gallows with a rope around his neck, and of his body with the noose still around his neck have appeared in the Times, the Daily Telegraph, the Guardian, the Independent, the Daily Mail, the Daily Express, the Sun, the Daily Mirror and in every other printed news medium. To say that ProBoards would have shut down the forum because those images appeared here is simply a transparent and laughable lie. MoonMan was banned because he believes that the Moon landings were hoaxed. "I had to do it or ProBoards would have shut us down" is one of the Administrator's standard excuses. The simple truth is that Lunar Orbit lost the argument and so reacted in the only way left open to him.
