I'm 99% sure that you are right, Bob. In fact I can't believe I missed it. I didn’t make the connection until he used “craps” and ;D ;D ;D, then it just clicked. Everything about two users – topics of interest, use of language, pigheadedness, refusal to engage in discourse, etc. – was virtually identical. If anyone feels I have banned him without enough justification feel free to let me know. I will unban him if enough people feel he deserves a second chance. I'm a moderator, not a dictator. His violation of the ban was sufficient justification in itself. However, I’d be willing to give him a second chance had he shown any indication he was ready to enter into a real discussion, but I did not see that. I saw nothing but a repeat of the same behavior that got him banned last time. I agree with your decision.

I agree he should be banned, and it's not because he called me a professor. That doesn't offend me.

I agree with the ban:
He is completely ignorant of every subject on which he makes wild claims. That's not a banning offense, though.
His posts are childish and rude. But that's not a banning offense on this board, either.
He doesn't acknowledge his mistakes when they are explained to him in great detail by people who have actually studied and worked in the relevant subjects. Yet even that isn't necessarily a banning offense here, either.
He absolutely refuses to learn anything. Anything at all. And that, in my opinion, is why the ban should be kept in place. Determined ignorance should be a felony.

Willful ignorance is the thing I find most contemptable about HB's. I agree; particularly on a site like this where there are so many knowledgeable people who are so willing to share their experience. It is almost sinful to not take advantage of such a resource. HBs like pierre1985 who insist on remaining ignorant are especially infuriating.

saturn.jpl.nasa.gov/news/press-release-details.cfm?newsID=117 >>> The spacecraft's VELOCITY RELATIVE TO THE SUN is at about 26 kilometers per second (about 59,250 miles per hour). Cassini is now more than 9 million kilometers (almost 6 million miles) from Earth. 65,000 miles per hour (earth's velocity) + 59,250 miles per hour (spacecraft's velocity) = 124,250 2 200 000 000 miles : 365 days : 24 hours : 124,250 miles per hour = 2.02 years We could go to Saturn in 2 years if NASA engineers considered the earth's velocity.

Except Earth doesn't go with the spacecraft, if I follow your reasoning . . . . . . . . . .

You're trying to apply an oversimplified layman's understanding of the problem. It is much, much, much more complex than you are making it out to be. Cassini took a very roundabout trajectory using several gravity assists to get to Saturn. This was necessary because we don't have a rocket in our inventory capable of providing the velocity necessary to get a spacecraft to Saturn directly, particularly one the size of Cassini. There are many factors to consider that are more important than flight duration.

Dang it, the whole thing's supposed to be a link. Anyone know how to simplify this stuff?

There are many factors to consider that are more important than flight duration. Wrong, wrong, absolutely wrong. Dear friends read carefully please: >>> saturn.jpl.nasa.gov/news/press-release-details.cfm?newsID=117 >>> The spacecraft's VELOCITY RELATIVE TO THE SUN is at about 26 kilometers per second (about 59,250 miles per hour). Cassini is now more than 9 million kilometers (almost 6 million miles) from Earth. >>> Since our probe is launched from the earth, it has already a velocity of 65,000 miles per hour (earth's velocity). >>> Why have NASA engineers steered Cassini on this trajectory? >>> www.space.com/php/multimedia/imagedisplay/img_display.php?pic=h_cassini_trajectory_02.gif&cap=The >>> Instead of increasing Cassini's velocity they have slowed down it at 59,250 miles per hour. >>> NASA engineers think the earth is the center of our solar system and don't consider earth's velocity. >>> In this wrong way Cassini has travelled for 2 200 000 000 miles to meet Saturn. >>> Cassini would have been able to fly along a straight line travelling for less than 1 000 000 000 miles. >>> 65,000 miles per hour (earth velocity) + 36,000 miles per hour (spacecraft's velocity) = 101,000 miles per hour >>> 1 000 000 000 miles : 365 days : 24 hours : 101,000 miles per hour = 1.13 years >>> >>> If NASA engineers considered the earth's velocity, Cassini could meet Saturn in one year!

I'm 99% sure that you are right, Bob. In fact I can't believe I missed it. . I suggest LunarOrbit that you don't post the detailed analysis of how you determined a person to be a sock-puppet, it makes it easier for said banned poster to cover his tracks the next time he makes an appearance (and they usually will). Yul/Yannox had a "tell" that exposed his sockpuppets but since that information was never posted he didn't know what it was.
