A wise man once said this about predicting the future: "Difficult to see. Always in motion is the future."

Rita will wade ashore late on the 23rd or early on the 24th, not the 27th.
You had mentioned the Dec 6 = worst day ever thing. But, as I pointed out, that's not much of a prediction without a year. Given enough time, every date will eventually be "the worst day ever".

Context is everything. Pearl Harbor and Hiroshima meant less to, say, the Argentinians than us, and VJ day means something different to us and the Japanese.
What was the "worst day ever" so far?

It looks like a giant comma, getting set to punctuate the East Coast.
One interesting thing in the loop is how the outer bands of clouds coming off of Rita are moving clockwise. It's like they get disconnected and start moving with another flow. It's not just an illusion of motion coming from cloud formation or dissipation. Neat.

Depends. Were you a dinosaur in a previous life?

Is it another hurricane?
Well being that it's storm season, I wouldn't be surprised if it's another storm. Funny thing about storm season, they tend to follow each other, though not all turn into hurricanes. Note that this Hurricane is Rita and the last was Katrina. That means there have been 6 storms form and reach naming level between them. A normal season currently could have easily 20-25 named storms with 5-6 being hurricane strength.

I also hear that Oct 3rd will be a day of dread.
I don't think that Sept 27th date is about Rita, BTW.
Speculation: a "terrorist" attack or a stock market crash.

A wise man once said this about predicting the future: "Difficult to see. Always in motion is the future." Yogi Berra, another little crinkled wise man, also said, "Prediction is hard, especially when it's about the future."

I think Yogi Berra must have been the inspiration for Yoda.

September 27th, October 3rd, come and gone. Nothing particularly earth-shattering happened.
Next up: "devastating" earthquake, California, October. One week left.

There's been some speculation about Oct 25th but it looks like there's been a lot of crying wolf again.
