So Galileo was wrong, the sun goes round the earth, stellar aberration is a lie? Reading comprehension 101, gwiz. It says " Why the story line of the brave scientist Galileo versus an ignorant Church is wrong" which does not equate to " Galileo was wrong" I'm not saying that they are right or wrong in the assertion, just that it doesn't mean what you take it to mean.

And the central point of the story line - "Nevertheless - it moves".

"Why fears of nuclear power aren't science, but unscientific scaremongering"
I'll admit, I'm for Freedom for Fission personally, but I have a feeling that this handbook would not give THAT argument justice.

That is true, fears are not science they are emotions, but I don’t think that is what the author had in mind.

I went to Amazon and it appears that the quote in the opening post is from the jacket of the book. That said the book appears to have endorsement from the discovery institute, answersingenesis, virusmyth.com and other anti-science sites. Make of that what you will.

Out of curiosity, what's the Discovery Institute? Does it have any relation to the Discovery Channel?
(I probably sound like an idiot asking that, but I've never heard of it before! Don't klil me, please!)

I feel stupid asking if it had any connection to the Discovery Channel... I have a feeling that a couple people got a chuckle out of that

I don't know, it might not be long until the Discovery Channel starts preaching the same garbage that prevails on other educational channels like the History Channel.

Out of curiosity, what's the Discovery Institute? Does it have any relation to the Discovery Channel? (I probably sound like an idiot asking that, but I've never heard of it before! Don't klil me, please!) It's a conservative Christian "think tank" that, supports, among other things, Intelligent Design". Their ultimate aim is to "affirm the reality of God". They are major proponents of the "Wege Strategy", which aims for "To defeat scientific materialism and its destructive moral, cultural and political legacies. To replace materialistic explanations with the theistic understanding that nature and hurnan beings are created by God." Basically, they hope to overthrow science. Be afraid. Be very, very, afraid.

Reminds me of that Indiana couple that let their baby die because they thought God would save her; forget medical science.
