Conveniently for the US occupied Iraq and Israel, their Internet connections were not affected. These cables were buried below the sea bed. Highly unlikely a ship dragged its anchor near any of them. "Egypt released a statement to the effect that video footage of the area where the cuts took place showed no surface ship activity for the previous 12 hours and added that these particular lanes are closed to maritime traffic for the express reason of avoiding damage to the cables." I hope nobody here is going to seriously suggest natural causes or coincidence, but it wouldn't surprise me. If you allow the possibility of one conspiracy or covert action, who knows where it will end? www.prisonplanet.com/articles/february2008/050208_b_Prelude.htm

Cables also have repeaters in them. Still, second guessing the reason I shall say repeater fail, shore equipment fail, anchor cut, trawler cut, underwater land slides, underwater earthquakes, sharks, big fish pretending to be sharks, SBS.
Edited to add. just read the link above. I know, I know, should have done that before but Prison Planet is not high on my list of reliable information sources.
Israel and Iraq do not appear to be in the consortium concerned. Might me not looking in the right place.
Its a poor show trying to cut a country off and leaving capacity elsewhere to take up the extra traffic.

If the outage is supposed to selectively affect only U.S. enemies and allow U.S. interests and allies to keep working, why has my business -- and have many other American businesses -- been at a virtual standstill for want of contacting our offshore contractors and partners affected by this outage? Why am I rigging up modems over phone lines to trickle critical data at a crawl?

Surely there are internet lines going into Iran, you know, over land?

Of course they conveniently ignore that the large number of troops in Qatar including the combined air operations center (CAOC) for the entire theater was affected by the outage too.

Here we go again,
"cannot be mere happenstance"
"The odds are too extreme to even contemplate it being anything but a deliberate act of sabotage"
Absolutes, only the Sith talk in terms of absolutes!
Obviously the only means of communication the enemies of the US have is the internet. Give me a break.
These CT pieces of pig excrement really need to find more important things to worry about. I'm sorry but I have really lost my patience with these idiots.
Let me just clarify things further. I think that all CTs are complete and utter fools. They must have so little intelligence that an automatic reflex like breathing becomes a monumental task for them. They would not recognize a real conspiracy if they themselves devised it. They are an insult to common decency and should be exterminated. Harsh I know but hey I'm having a bad day and I feel like ranting a bit.
I challenge all and any CTs to come forward with one, just one, decent theory that has irrefutable evidence that cannot be debunked in 2 seconds flat.

I think that all CTs are complete and utter fools. Now, now. They're not all fools; some of them are crazy.

Here I am enjoying my own misery and you say something like that to cheer me up, how dare you ;D
I may have been a bit harsh but surely I'm not the only one who feels like this.

I don't discount this could be an action from a group; WHOSE group is subject to discussion if the action is found to be deliberate. It could well be a simple failure of cables; I simply do not know enough at this time to be able to make an informed opinion.

So what could be said as the chances of human intervention get higher with the more cut, whilst accidental cannot be ruled out, then you could assume Al Q or A N Other have been shopping for a few aqua lungs or a trawler.
Pure speculation on my part I hasten to add. As an attempt at disruption its a one hit wonder, people will be looking from now on. And maybe sub standard or faulty production in the cable led to a fail? Hence the comment on a more robust cable being installed.
Hopefully a few cable ends will be produced.
Edited to add, how many have actually been cut? seems to be references to five but three keep cropping up in searches. At least as far as I can be bothered to search
