I'm not sure why you think all of BAUT is some monolithic entity of only one opinion. There are many. Ye Gods, there are no groups of humans that agree on everything!

Judging by the threads over there they are split about 60-40 in favour of AGW.

I am banned from there for disresecting SETI in light of Fermi's Paradox and other facts. No, you were banned for failing to remain civil to other posters and refusing to answer questions about your claims. Bill is banned for 72 hoursBill banned for life Uh huh. It all boils down to what to believe and why. For example if someone believes man walked on the moon for patriotic reasons only, then he believes for the wrong reason. We should believe that man walked on the moon simply because there is overwhelming evidence that man did, in fact, walk on the moon and the "evidence" or any indication or reason that we did not is easily debunked and transparently failing in critical thinking norms. Now, let's talk for a moment about SETI. The faithful believe in SETI simply because it would be rock-and-roll cool if we got a signal from ETI.. I was one of those people before I heard of Fermi's Paradox. But that did not deter the faithful who came up with a whole tone of flimsy excuses to explain it away. Now, until someone comes up with a satisfactory explaination for Fermi's Paradox that also makes it likely that that SETI will get a positive hit, it is not logical to have faith in SETI. They hated to hear this. That is all.

Bill, this is not BAUT, I really don't care why you were banned there. Quit whining about it and move on with your life. You sound just like the CT's that I have banned here, complaining about how big an injustice it was.

if someone believes man walked on the moon for patriotic reasons only, then he believes for the wrong reason. But this doesn't change the facts of the matter. Regardless of why one believes, or even if one believes, the events still occurred. If, in several thousand years, all records of the Apollo program have been lost ( "Planet of the Apes", or variants thereon ), therefore nobody has any reason to believe that the events occurred, did the events no longer occur? You'll have to clarify your analogy. You're comparing belief in the factual accuracy of the Apollo historical record to... what? Belief that ETI exists? Believe that SETI will find it within our lifetimes? Belief that SETI is a government hoax? Perhaps you could clarify what you understand "The Fermi Paradox" to be. So... until someone finds evidence of ETI, it's illogical/wasteful to look for evidence of ETI? If there was anything to find, we would have found it by now, and since we haven't, it isn't there. Is that your stance? Y'know what would be rock-and-roll cool? If we could find a trade route to Asia by sailing west. But, there's no evidence that it exists (much less that there's a big ol' honkin' continent or two blocking that route), so it's illogical to try. I guess North and South America must be hoaxes.

Thanks a million. ;) This clears up some issues about GW that I was fuzzy on.
