Hi, An HB on GLP has made claims about the accuracy of Clavius. They seem to be copied from somewhere and are mostly very stupid (such as claiming 10.8 should be rounded to 11, ignoring that rounding to the nearest power of 10 (10's, 100's, ...) is perfectly common and reasonable in this case). However, one claim was that Clavius claims only two Soviet missions returned samples. I had a look and on www.clavius.org/envrocks.html it does use "two" and "pair" in relation to Soviet missions. I did a quick check and on Wikipedia, at least, there does seem to be mention of Luna 16, 20 and 24; and claims all three did return samples. Am I (and the HB's) misreading the Clavius pages? The GLP page is here: www.godlikeproductions.com/forum1/message443615/pg95It's all irrelevant anyway, as the difference in quantity of samples returned is still significant, and the comparison of content is still valid. However, if it is indeed a (minor) error, it would be good to look at it, and if not - I'd like to correct the HB. Cheers,

Maybe that HB can explain the difference between regolith and core samples.
Are you Anonymous Coward #74444?

Maybe that HB can explain the difference between regolith and core samples. Are you Anonymous Coward #74444? There's plenty wrong in his/her claims; what I raised was just one aspect that I was unsure of and seemed worth clarifying. If core sample versus regolith is the issue here, then it's a distinction that's a bit subtle (in this context) and could use some clearing up. I show up there as 3222 when posting form work (fixed IP) but as various when posting from home (when I should be gardening or doing something otherwise useful). Cheers,

That was written years ago. I don't know why I indicated there were two missions. I'll fix that. It should be three.
