Of course the man is incompetent. But he has an oddly devoted following. I'm amazed how many people are willing to go to the mat to proclaim him a persecuted expert. Jack White isn't alone in this. Ralph Rene and the late Bill Kaysing are also considered such by the hoax side. To be precise, one states that Rene is "character assinated", and that he gave the main reason we can't go to the moon.

I notice that in White's latest hairball, he's claiming that the PLSS backpack is not visible in Jack Schmitt's reflection. Just a glance will show you that the shadow of Jack's PLSS is readily visible. Straydog on YouTube claims to have introduced White this this image. Stray considers this "analysis" proof that the Apollo photography was faked, despite having similar explainations on the education forum given to him. Then again, what should one expect from a guy that thinks a retired construction engineer with no degree is a "brilliant physicist"?

Then again, what should one expect from a guy that thinks a retired construction engineer with no degree is a "brilliant physicist"? I'm pretty sure Ralph Rene is a retired construction worker (my recollection is that he was a millwright). I'm a construction engineer, and I can say with certainty that Ralph Rene is no engineer.

Ralph Rene is a retired construction worker. He does not have a degree or any other form of qualification in engineering, nor does he hold a college degree. Yes construction engineering is a different and very demanding field that Rene is not qualified in the least to practice. I'm not sure what his specialty was, but his patents are for gas brazing tips. That would suggest practical expertise in any of two or three fields.
As far as his "brilliance," I can't find any instance in which his physics expertise has actually been tested and shown to be even competent. Apparently that "brilliance" is largely a product of Rene's publicity packet and not any actual adjudicated event. However, on his web site there are (or at least were) papers he has written available for purchase about how all the physicists of the past five centuries were wrong. So in line with all the other pseudointellectual hacks we see all the time, he seems to have based his claim to expertise on his willingness to inconsequentially criticize Newton, Maxwell, and Einstein.

I seem to recall reading (in Wikipedia, I believe) that Rene has also written a book about the 911 conspiracy theories. So it seems he's into all sort of conspiracy nonsense.

Yeah, another of his self-published, spiral-bound diatribes.

Ah, worker, and not engineer. Gotcha!
That's what I figured. I'm amazed how much the HBs buy into it, even when pointed out that Rene's ideas on Newton and Einstien are dead wrong. Of course, the HBs tend to have no idea why Rene's claims are wrong. Even when I point out the reasons, the HBs I meet still proclaim Rene as 'brilliant'. Compared to what, I wonder.
BTW, mind if I send you a PM, Jay?

Well, don't get me wrong. It's not a matter of worth, but of qualifications. Rene inflates his credentials. He doesn't have a degree in engineering or physics (or, for that matter, anything) and has never practiced engineering or physics professionally. In many respects he is an ingenious and thoughtful person. But he claims far more expertise than he can demonstrate.
BTW, mind if I send you a PM, Jay?
Never a problem.

I know it isn't a matter of worth, but a matter of honesty about one's qualifications.
BTW, according to the HBs on YT, Rene passed away not long ago. I haven't seen anything online about it, oddly enough.

His official site doesn't say anything about his death and there are no news reports about it. Or does that just indicate a cover-up by the evil government?

Well, if I were dead I wouldn't necessarily post that on Clavius.

Well, if I were dead I wouldn't necessarily post that on Clavius. True... but somebody would probably post something on the Wiki Page. Cz

It's interesting that Ralph Rene says on his website: "I also found that the Moon is much more reflective of sunlight than can be explained by its surface material as shown by the Apollo landing photos."
...I thought he had objections to how objects in shadows were visible in Apollo photographs? Am I wrong about this?
