While perusing the Have Your Say item on the BBC website yeaterday, entitled "Would you fly?" I came across a comment from someone who was obviously of the opinion that the current Icelandic volcano eruption was caused by HAARP or something similar, and that we should be demanding answers from these places... It isn't the sort of place to try and have a discussion with the individual, otherwise I'd have tried to get a bit more out of him/her. Anyone else seen anything similar?

Anyone else seen anything similar? Yeah, it's well known in conspiracist circles that all natural disasters are caused by HAARP.

The amazing and mystical powers of HAARP reappear. It there nothing that array of antennas can not do? It's not like Iceland is a thermal hot spot created by volcanoes or anything.
No, I've not seen that claim before, but what people will choose to blame on HAARP or the US government never ceases to amaze me.

Anyone else seen anything similar? Yep. The ash cloud covers up planet X, planes are grounded as preparation for WWIII/Project Bluebeam, Obama didn't want to fly to Poland, the aliens did it,... And that's just off the top of my head. Yeah, it's well known in conspiracist circles that all natural disasters are caused by HAARP. Or divine retribution. You get a weird mix off people on conspiracy sites.

Well, HAARP didn't exist until 1993. Maybe all natural disasters nowadays are caused by HAARP but all disasters before 1993 were caused by divine retribution.

To misquote the westborough baptist church "God hates Heathrow" I think you mean "pre-quote," i.e. they just haven't gotten to it yet. The Phelps clan will declare that He hates anything, if it'll get them publicity.

Heathrow is open again. If God really hates Heathrow, He could have done something much worse than just shut them down for a few days.

If my experience in landing at Heathrow, many years ago, is any guide, by closing it God was bestowing a blessing on the traveling public.

Of course not, HAARP incorporates secret technology by some Alien who calls himself just "The Doctor" and can send its secret waves through time and space

Thought so...that explains Haiti.

I didn't post that to make light of the people who lost their lives any more than you meant to convey that you would have found it funny if less than "too many" died. Fact is, HAARP was blamed by some woos for Haiti. Did you even know that? Or were you too busy doing humanitarian work down there?

Archer, your response to Raven was WAY out of line. I'm sure you didn't intend to offend anyone with your original comment, but if someone did find it offensive then you don't respond by being even MORE offensive.

Archer, your response to Raven was WAY out of line. I'm sure you didn't intend to offend anyone with your original comment, but if someone did find it offensive then you don't respond by being even MORE offensive. Either I was using the tragedy in Haiti to try to elicit cheap laughs or I wasn't LunarOrbit. I say I wasn't and found the implication insulting which resulted in the post you found "WAY out of line." Granted, I would have been better served cooling down before I responded or, at the very least, omitted the first and last part of that response, but I didn't. Once I hit 'post reply' and saw that raven was online I wasn't going to modify it later. raven, LunarOrbit is basically right. I don't think I was "WAY" out of line, but I was out of line and should know better than to post while angry. My apologies. FWIW Opera didn't allow me to add the emoticon which I intended to include in that prior 'sonic-screwdriver' sarcasm and I realise that meaning is not always conveyed properly when confined to text. I try to make sure my posts can't be misconstrued but obviously it'll happen at times. If Hoagland and his "hyper-dimensional" malarkey come up regarding Katrina or tidal waves and I get sarcastic again I don't want to read what I read from you above. Cut me some slack. I would never do what the woos do and exploit disaster and tragedy for my own gain. If I find I can no longer post effectively enough to avoid these kind of "misunderstandings" happening all the time then I'll do the right thing and quit posting.
