I have to ask, Jay ... should we assume the same [expletive] every time, or should we be thinking a little wider than that? I'm now picturing George Carlin playing Mad Libs with Jay's post. ;D

Looks like they are underway at last. Jack White has refused to participate in the debate (which says a lot about him) but he is happily hijacking other threads. educationforum.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=16500The mods over there seem to just let him trample about with impunity. Some "Education" forum.

It is not easy to follow the debate, when you're not allowed to see the photos discussed.

Seriously if I was faking the moon landings I'd have made the LM a lot sleeker looking, maybe something from the Gerry Anderson school of spacecraft design...

But, in the end, to put everything together that actually works and performs you can afford "looks" getting in the way.

It is not easy to follow the debate, when you're not allowed to see the photos discussed. Seconded. You have to wait for Evan to figure out which image it is and post the number. And I really don't feel like registering when it is a closed debate. IMHO it is a tactic simply to make rebuttals more difficult. Dishonest, but what do you expect.

Looks like they are underway at last. And we have already the first fetzerian Gem: "Evan suggests that, if they were faking these photos, then why not roll a rover into position and create rover tracks? To which I reply, these guys were not rocket scientists and they made mistakes"

Why do HB's like Jack White keep harping on about the appearance of the LM as some sort of proof it was a hoax? The words "IQ" and "room temperature" come to mind...

And we have already the first fetzerian Gem: "Evan suggests that, if they were faking these photos, then why not roll a rover into position and create rover tracks? To which I reply, these guys were not rocket scientists and they made mistakes" I must admit this claim makes me mad. The rover was a wheeled vehicle. They could drive it into position. If it was not operational they could push it into position. But no. The HB crew will insist they craned it into position. In the name of all that's holy why? Build all that crane rigging, spend all the money that such a rig would cost when they could have simply pushed it onto the supposed set for free? This claim is, in my opinion, even sillier than the "they went but they found aliens" claim. There is simply no reason to do it.

Flezer also says "the rarified atmosphere on the moon". So now he is claiming the moon has an atmosphere. Did he get his PhD in stupidity?

Well, my point is that you can't even register.

To which I reply, these guys were not rocket scientists and they made mistakes" Made a mistake? Given two simple methods for placing the rover on the 'set' they devise a third, convoluted and deeply flawed method for doing so. That's not making a mistake, that's stoned out of their minds insanity. Seriously the notion that some vast conspiracy set all this up and no one noticed the complete lack of rover tracks is beyond all reason, and hey weren't some of the guys allegedly involved actually rocket scientists?

Flezer also says "the rarified atmosphere on the moon". So now he is claiming the moon has an atmosphere. Did he get his PhD in stupidity? Technically speaking, the Moon does have an atmosphere. It is less than 100 trillionth the density of Earth's atmosphere at sea level with a total approximate mass of about 10 metric tons, but it exists nonetheless... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon#Atmosphereen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atmosphere_of_the_MoonWhether or not Fetz knows that much, I don't know, however... Why do HB's like Jack White keep harping on about the appearance of the LM as some sort of proof it was a hoax? Because he's not a spacecraft engineer. He simply applies his earth-based intuition, as if it meant something, to a machine designed to operate in a totally alien environment. He has no idea of what real spacecraft look like, he is unfamiliar with the special materials that are used (particularly thermal blankets), and most importantly he has no clue WHY those materials are used in the way that they're used. In other words, he's clueless.
