Really I put this up for the fun of speculating what the explanation could be. I don't personally think it's a time traveller.
Ok, its from the premiere. This means it may not be an extra but a real person? But if it's a hearing aid, who is she talking to? Who's talking to her? It definitely looks like she's talking to someone.

I don't think the clip was ever intended to be in the movie. From what I understand, it was filmed at the Hollywood premiere of "The Circus".
"The time traveler" wasn't an extra, she was just a person walking down the street who happened to pass in front of the camera.

 Two things irritated me about the vid in the OP: One, the guy spent the entire 10 minutes available for a youtube babbling and Two he claims to be a film maker but didn't bother to white-balance his camera. The orange color of his video pissed me off more than the babbling, actually. He talked about the way she is holding the object, but nobody I know holds their phone in a claw grip like she was - they hold it with the fingers extended. Watch for it. I agree, I think it's part of a viral marketing routine. |

She may simply be eccentric and talking to herself, off in her own little world. Not just her hearing that is gone then. ;D
