This is incredibly funny. Warning for foul language.
ETA: Had to replace the original link with a new one.

I had not heard of Minchin before. Apparently he is more popular in Australia and England than in the U.S. He seems to be channeling Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow or vice versa.

I had seen him before (he does have quite the extravagant appearence), but never watched anything done by him. I really liked this stuff.

I saw him live at TAM London - there was also an item on producing Storm as an animated short.

Ah yes, one of Australia's great skeptic exports.
I saw him live in Canberra last year - excellent stuff. You should also try to find his little ditty about homeopathy.

If he's channeling Captain Jack Sparrow, doesn't that really mean that he's channeling Keith Richards, since Johnny Dep was basically just doing a Keith Richards impression while playing Jack Sparrow?

I think it's more a case of channeling Jack Daniels, as it is suggested that liberal consumption of wine was a major contributing factor to the structural failure of his "diplomacy dyke."
BTW, this has to be one of the more cogent rebuttals I've seen to Dr. Plait's "Don't Be A Dick"™ stance.

I do know several old rock and roller who think Keith Richards is the source of all that is worthy. When they can think, that is.

The "stuff that worked is called medicine" line was also used by Dara O'Briain, who also did a good, albeit less lyrical, bit on this topic. His punch line was about putting all the woo types in a sack and wacking the sack with sticks.

Dara O'Brian had me in stitches when I saw his bit about science and the absurd 'impartiality' of the media in regard to it. I particularly enjoy his one about interviewing an astronomer and astrophysicist about a spacecraft to Mars, and then, 'for the sake of 'balance', we turn now to Gary, who thinks the sky is a carpet painted by God', who proceeds to scoff and suggest they might put velcro on the spacecship to keep it on the carpet.

Have any Youtube clips of Dara O'Brian to recommend?

Thanx, you guys!!! I *love* Tim's stuff, and had caught the last half of this some months ago on tv with no way to record it, and then subsequently couldn't find it as I had no idea what it was called... So what a pleasure to see this thread! It's a brilliant piece (as is pretty well everything he goes near..).
