... I'm sure it makes him feel better to believe that *everyone* is willing to do the same thing Or maybe lying and cheating just comes so naturally to him that he believes it to be the norm for everyone else. Of course there are conspiracies everywhere because in his mind we live in a world where no one has scruples.

Of course there are conspiracies everywhere because in his mind we live in a world where no one has scruples. Sadly, this is a common trait of most HBs. They will cherrypick, take quotes out of context, poison the well, selectively edit video, and outright lie to advance the Moon Hoax theory. They're not interested in discovering the truth, they're interested in winning the argument - by any means necessary.

Over at the JREF he is saying the Doppler effect can be used to measure a spacecraft's total velocity, not just the radial velocity.
His newest hobbyhorse is Apollo was used to establish a Very Long Baseline Interferometer between the Moon, L-4 and L-5.

Over at the JREF he is saying the Doppler effect can be used to measure a spacecraft's total velocity, not just the radial velocity. ...and carefully avoiding having to answer any practical questions about how that works. The readers here might be amused to hear that he has all but stated that his plan is to repost the same mindless walls of text any time a question is asked. That's especially silly when you consider that he proposed also instrumenting L-4 and L-5 with navigational transmitters in order to compensate for the limited visibility of the Moon for navigation purposes. He doesn't seem to realize that if he refactors his theory as a VLBI system, then all of the transmitters must be visible and functioning.

It is interesting to note that the poster "dastardly" on BAUT forum now is using Fattydash/Patrick's arguments. Also:
- claims to have won "sextant contests" as a youth (note that Bing does not return any hits for the phrase "sextant contest", so I suspect they are rarely held), just as fattydash and Patrick are self-proclaimed experts on every topic they discuss; - has been asked why he puts headings to his posts, even though they are not displayed on BAUT (although they are in Patrick's posts on JREF); and - claims he is supported in his proposals by his girlfriend and his sister, just as Patrick claims support from his wife and mother.
So, I gather the parade of socks marches on.

Dastardly appears to have serious mental issues. Neither seem to be able to stick to a topic or answer directly questions.

Yeah, I don't believe he's a sock. Just another ignorant teenager trying to make himself feel special.

Actually, dastardly's style comes off as very similar to one of Fattydash's previous socks on BAUT, MaryB who wrote in a much less erudite style than he did. I think Fattydash has enough cunning to realize that he cannot make all his socks speak in the same voice, and it's always easier to write as someone less educated than one really is, than more so.
I think the comment about him trying to put in header titles, even though BAUT doesn't format for them, was telling, since Patrick insists on JREF that this helps him organize what he writes. I suspect that dastardly will be used by Patrick as proof that he's "reaching the masses".

Patrick got suspended for a day at JREF, and immediately the dastardly account went active on BAUT after a month of nothing. Once the suspension expired, Patrick became active and dastardly vanished. Into the ether, no doubt. ;D Dastardly shares the same arguments, posts titles to his responses in exactly the same way as patrick, and declines to respond to questions. That's an MO.

Ah. Patrick was suspended from JREF? That makes sense.
Dastardly just seemed to hit all Patrick's talking points too precisely. And I must admit I find Patrick's Big Wall o' Text (tm) style very hard to follow - dastardly doesn't write like someone who would be able to read that, and get the gist easily.

I just went to JREF and read the last few pages of Patrick's thread. For some reason I don't get regular emails when it updates. Definitely the same person. I thought it was a ploy as well but wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. How sad is your life when you spend so much time pretending to be more retarded on the internet?

I've never used a sextant - what particular form would a "sextant contest" take?

I've never used a sextant - what particular form would a "sextant contest" take? Who ever gets closest to their real position. When the frigate I was serving on got underway I would challenge my fellow quartermasters to get the closest Sun line to our GPS position. The bet was a soda.
