In an attempt to debunk more of the common conspiracy claims, I have decided to resort to this widely used one.
In the words of every major conspiracist, "There is no wind on the moon. Therefore the flag should not wave... But we see it waving."
First of all, a flag doesn't need wind to wave. I can push something with my finger, but it doesn't mean only my finger can push it. Several other factors contribute to this movement.
First of all, we only see real flag disturbance when an astronaut is personally manipulating the flag pole...
The scientific word for this is, "inertia". Every object HAS inertia. And Newtons laws state "An object in motion will remain in motion unless acted on by an unbalanced force. An object at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force."
Now science is everything with the moon landings, so we'll be applying it here today.
We see the flag wave here,
To the mistaken eye, "That flag is waving!!!! WIND!!!"
But there is a simple explanation. The astronauts move the flag back and forth manually, which turns the flag and causes it to flap.
In this animated GIF, we see Buzz Aldrin, seconds apart, yet the flag does not move. Surely, if this were being filmed on Earth, the wind would move the flag slightly... yet, no change.

The reason is that no astronauts are manipulating the flag pole.
But what is a few seconds? Here's a few HOURS!
CONSPIRACY FLAG CLAIM 2
The flag is extended outward and ripply. Vincent, if this were on the moon, the flag would hang limp.[/u]
No. It wouldn't. NASA attached a horizontal support beam to the top of the American flag. This kept it erected outward to display the stars and stripes to the American public.
The Mythbusters additionally proved that the lunar videos were filmed in a vacuum.
Clearly, the flag claim holds no water...
As for the Apollo 15 waving flag, I'll get to that on a separate thread. It's important to note that this thread does not PROVE we went to the moon. The SOLE-PURPOSE was to tackle previous conspiracy claims.
Special Thanks to the Mythbusters, NASA, google images, and CHsarahBS on youtube.
