Mine is boring as well
My initials J D S
I inserted the 'h' since otherwise it would be jaydeeees and 4 'e's in a row is not asthetically pleasing.
I have other nicks elsewhere.

Well, we all know the story about Khrushchev banging his shoe at the UN. Nobody ever says anything about Khrushchev's Other Shoe. Why? What are they hiding?

Well, we all know the story about Khrushchev banging his shoe at the UN. High-resolution analysis of the footage of that incident reveals that the shoe in question was, in fact, not Khrushchev's proper size, proving that he was an imposter. Of course, the only reason he blew the whistle was his intense guilt over the entire charade.

Soviet shoes were always of correct size.
The problem was clearly that Nikita Sergeivich had wrong size feet...

Hey, KOS, I've posted a bit of 1957 stuff about cold war paranoia and a brief mention of Khrushchev doing some boasting here: www.bautforum.com/showpost.php?p=597269&postcount=22

That's interesting, Kiwi, thanks. I seem to recall Khrushchev having gotten himself in trouble with his boasting - grossly exaggerating the number of ICBMs with the magic CCCP written on them, thereby triggering an intensive effort by the US to upgrade its capabilities - probably not what ol' Nikita was hoping for...

From what I've read the US military knew the "missile gap" was a lie but used it as an excuse to get funding. When JFK became president he discovered the truth and spoke about it openly. That was one of the reasons the chagrined Khrushchev installed missiles in Cuba. I'll try to find the link if anyone expresses interest.

StoutCortez after a reference in John Keats's poem "On First Looking into Chapman's Homer." It follows an astronomy reference and is about someone looking for a new world.
It's also a historical howler, since Keats didn't know it was Balboa, not Cortez, who stood silent upon a peak in Darien at his first sight of the Pacific.
Well, I like to stargaze, and I could stand to lose a few pounds.

Just in case anyone's interested in the new guy's name...
My name, Lonewulf, comes from a very long history of loving wolves and liking the term "Lone Wolf", which I thought would apply to myself. Well, it changed to Lonewulf to make it more original...
Also, one of my online RPG characters is named Lonewulf. So it's become a staple log-in name for me...
As well, it's also symbolic. I tend to drift from location to location, and never stick in one area long enough to get "conformized" to it. Thus, I'm a bit of a Lone Wolf in that respect.

Just in case anyone's interested in the new guy's name... Hi Lonewulf, I am only slightly less new than you here. My name at BAUT is Montebianco. No particular reason, I just picked it, it doesn't make sense. Rather like Khrushchev's Other Shoe ;D

I hope nobody is bothered by bumping threads up here. They seem to frowm on that at BABB.
I've been lurking here and at BA for a while. I finally found a name and avatar in the "life on other worlds" area when someone posted this image as proof of life on mars. It looked to me like the character Octoman in the nintendo game F-zero to me so I had to use it!
