To keep other threads from running off topic, I hereby start this thread to pay homage to one William Alan Shatner. Brief Bio:
William Alan Shatner (born on March 22, 1931) is a Canadian actor who gained fame for playing Captain James Tiberius Kirk, captain of the starship USS Enterprise in the television show Star Trek from 1966 to 1969 and in seven of the subsequent movies. Shatner has written a series of books chronicling his experiences playing James T. Kirk and being a part of Star Trek. He also played the title role as veteran police sergeant T.J. Hooker, from 1982 to 1986. He has since worked as a musician, bestselling author, producer, director, and celebrity pitchman, most notably for Priceline.com. He currently co-stars as attorney Denny Crane on the television drama Boston Legal, for which he has won an Emmy and a Golden Globe Award.
Of course, if anyone want to bash Shatner, you can do it here too, but be prepared for good comebacks!

And I'll start this off :
People make fun of how 'Bill' delivers his lines. I would just like to say that he was a classic trained actor (yes, he did Shakespeare) and that may account for some of his vocalizations. However, I would also like to add that his lines weren't as fragmented as they are made out to be. Bill's characterization of Captain Kirk certainly started the perception and that is what he is mostly known for, but other characters that he has portrayed are much more normal sounding. I would suggest that the way he delivered his lines in Star Trek had more to do with the character of Kirk, rather than his acting style.

I think his performances on Star Trek were better when the show itself was better. He's pretty good in the first and second seasons of the original series. The stories, direction (and budget) left much to be desired in the third season; as the material got worse, so did he.

Shatner Rules. Even if you don't like his acting style he has a certain unavoidable charisma.
Chris Pine (who will be playing Kirk in the new Star Trek movie) has very big shoes to fill.

I admit I'll have to watch the entire series again to figure out what episode is from which season. I seemingly have lost the ability to identify the episodes just by their names, except for a few of the more well known ones (The Trouble With Tribbles, City on the Edge of Forever etc.). I actually feel ignorant when talking to my brother in law about Star Trek because he can recall so much. I sort of just nod sometimes when he's speaking about Star Trek, hoping that he just thinks I know.

The Classic Trek series is the only one I bothered to buy all the DVDs for.

From Futurama's Where No Fan Has Gone Before:
"How can you do a spoken word version of a rap song?"
"He found a way!"

How can I bash Captian Kirk, T.J.Hooker, and the Priceline negotiator? (sorry, don't watch Boston Legal so I forget that name lol). He's a rare actor, someone so secure he's happy being a parody of himself. (in his public persona at least...and I'm pretty certain it's been quite lucrative) As one of his buds would say...ahem, sorry...live long and prosper Bill! \\// /

I would suggest that the way he delivered his lines in Star Trek had more to do with the character of Kirk, rather than his acting style.
I forget how the question was worded, but I once read an interview where someone basically asked him what Captain Kirk's defining characteristic was. His answer (again, paraphrased): Kirk is in a state of near-constant amazement at the universe around him. I suddenly understood his distinctive delivery much better.

No one can not know of The Shatner. Obviously Lionking is a paid disinfo agent.
