It would be fun. I would assume the dart would fly straighter? No air resistance and less gravity to pull it down. Maybe you'd have to move the board further away (say 15 feet) to make it harder to hit those triple 20's... I think your lawn darts would be more challenging though.

I would assume the dart would fly straighter? No air resistance and less gravity to pull it down. You need air to make the dart stabilize in a point forward attitude. That's what the fins are for. Without air the dart would tumble out of control.

Maybe we can invent a dart that has a tiny little reaction control system built in... or would that be cheating?

Can they put a gyroscope on a silicon wafer yet?

Strap-down accelerometers in the Wii remote. Not a very sophisticated thing, but good enough.

Without air the dart would tumble out of control. Unless you spin it between your thumb and fingers as you release it: tricky, but doable with practice...

Or even better Launch your darts with a LIM, just to help with regulating Pitch and Yaw stabilisation you see. (not too mention in would be a fantastic Geek Toy it has all the necesary requiremnts
It has a LIM (always cool) It Fires Stuff (Nuff said) The Projectile carries a risk of Injury, (check) it's in a Lunar Enviroment (I'm getting moist now) It is a game (Woohoo 5 out of 5)
All we need is also to hook it up to a computer maybe add a laser Sight and add a load of Flashy Lights, and a very theatrical fire control system.

VALIS (reply #86) is correct; I miscounted.
We have ten "lurkers and viewers":
furi (England) Hypersonic (USA) bruce n0mad ginniegatrit (Canada) dickshane (England) rchappo dexter VALIS gorgonian
All of them have judged Apollo to have happened, and rocky's claims to be wrong.
I hereby declare the 10-run mercy rule to be in effect. Game over.

Also of interest are some of the comments received on HBs in general, or rocky in particular:
- research and logical skills:
"should get a library card" -------------- "Nothing resembling a good point." -------------- "...they not only seem to be unaware of what constitutes a valid argument, they don't even seem to realise that a valid argument is necessary."
- Attitudes and motivations:
"reminiscent of witch-hunters, Luddites (or saboteurs if you like)and one giant leap backwards for mankind,..." -------------- "I think much of the bizarreness of their logic results from the fact that they have a conclusion in search of evidence, rather than the other way around..."
- General assessment of claims:
"...their (HBs') ridiculous claims..." -------------- "...his claims are ludicrous."
- Responses to rocky's claims that his linked web sites/videos would convince lurkers Apollo was fake:
"I'm a real viewer and have read both of those websites and I'm still 100% convinced that Apollo WASN'T a hoax." -------------- "After seeing parts of those videos I did my own independent research and found out what a crock of **** they were..."
- Mental health and general thought processes:
"mind boggling" -------------- "I think you guys spend way too much time fighting with mental patients." -------------- "...rocky is off his rocker."

although I certainly don't count as as lurker, sometimes I feel that way since I have nothing scientific to contribute to any of the arguments.

Not all arguments here require a scientific contribution.

Not all arguments here require a scientific contribution. Good job, otherwise I would never be able to contribute anything ...

(runs into the empty stadium, stands at home plate, picks up a stray bat and ball, and tosses the ball in the air)
Virtually all of the HBer's claims fail to offer anything beyond pure speculation based upon several books and videos being sold by people who clearly have no genuine knowledge of Apollo, science in general, or the workings of government.
(smacks the ball with a hefty swing, takes off for first base)[/i]
I've been lurking here for many months now, and have been silently observing the desperate attempts of various HBer's to disprove the vast amount of evidence that humans from Earth did indeed walk upon the moon.
(rounds first headed for second)[/i]
They have offered absolutely nothing to back their claims or to counter the obviously knowledgable posts of people who clearly understand the science and technology involved in this endeavour.
(touches second heading for third)[/i]
I have only a high-school education in matters of science and physics myself, but through my own efforts and ability to read and research things which interest me, have learned more about Apollo in the last 10 years than any of the HBer's obviously have. Through my local library and sites like Clavius and this board, I have seen for myself the overwhelming proof of mankind's ultimate technological achievement of standing upon the surface of the moon.
(rounds third, headed for home)[/i]
I do not now, nor have I ever, known any of the posters on this board personally. Indeed, I merely come here to read their refutations of the frivolous and often laughable claims of HBer's. I registered in order to merely keep up with recent postings, feeling that my limited knowledge of the subjects at hand renders me incapable of offering any insight beyond that of the more knowledgable posters here.
(pauses briefly a few inches from home plate)[/i]
Thus, as a completely independent human being, I declare myself to be wholeheartedly on the side of those who understand and know that Apollo was an historical landmark of human achievement unparalleled in the history of mankind.
(stomps foot on home plate and heads for the showers)[/i]
